I had one about 5 years ago. I had a colposcopy during which the doctor took a biopsy. Truthfully, that was quite painful but very quick. I ended up having to have some cells lasered off. This was a seperate outpatient procedure that had to be done in the hospital. I was knocked out, but it took less than 15 min. I haven't had any abnormal paps since then.
Having an abnormal pap is quite common, so I wouldn't worry about it until after you find out your results. Good luck!
I just had one. I had my colposcopy on Monday and it wasn't bad at all. I got my test results today and they said I was fine but I have to have it done again next year at my annual just to make sure.
About five years ago, I was diagnosed with HPV after two abnormal paps and had a col. Everything came back okay and I have been clear since. My OB GYN called me after my 6 wpp though and my cells are off again so I have to go back in Jan for another pap. I'm thinking the birth process can trigger flareups again.

I had one several years ago. It was quick, but it hurt while it was happening. I had a little spotting afterwards, but was fine by the end of the day. Take a painkiller before you go. I had to have paps every 6 months for two years afterwards, but never had another abnormal one.

Re: ? from 0-3...Anyone have an abnormal pap?
Happened to me years ago. Colposcopy was no big deal, was basically similar to having a pap, just took longer.
They concluded that everything was fine and I've never had an abnormal pap since.

I was diagnosed with HPV years ago and had adnormal cells appear. I had to have a col and then a procedure called a Leep.
Now everytime I get pregnant (with ds1 and with ds2) I have had to have my cervix stitched (a cerclage) so that there is no leaking.
