So I'm scheduled to be induced on November 4th but my real due date isn't until November 14th. My husband found out today that he needs to go out of town (by plane) Oct 19-21. Is this cutting it too close?
Yes. DH was supposed to go out of town for a college football game when I was around 35 weeks with DD. I went into labor the day he was supposed to leave.
I wouldn't be worried about it 4 weeks before my due date. Yes, anything can happen but that's a whole month prior. But that's just my opinion of my own personal situation (and clearly I've made it past that date - LOL)
I wouldn't like it. I would make sure he has a back up plan to get home. My DH travels a lot for work and he is only 'allowed' to travel by car at that point so that he can be in control of coming home at the drop of a hat. I still don't like him being gone that close though.
How far away by plane? How close are you and will he be to a major airport? Is there anything going on in either place (i.e. big football game, etc) those days that could impact his ability to hop a plane back to you ASAP if needed?
I would personally not worry about it, but if you are concerned, certainly express this to him.
You all have me a bit worried. DH is going on a business trip the first week in October. I'll be between 35 and 36 weeks. I'll talk to the doctor at my appointment on Monday and see what she says.
I wouldn't be worried at all, but that is me. I have co-workers that travel pregnant until this timeframe all the time. I would think you were going to have pre-term labor you would have had some warning signs prior to him leaving. As long as he can cancel last minute, which I would hope they would understand if you were in labor, I see no issues. But, it's all what you are comfortable with. My husband left me this past weekend and I am very close to my due date and I had no concerns.
what i have learned is "ya gotta do what ya gotta do"
DH tavels all the time and i mean all the time about 80% of the year.
He is gone now, will be home for a few weeks and then has to go oct 16- nov 7, i am due the 12th. Clearly i am paniced but there is nothing i can do but hold the little guy in.
My husband just did the same thing...he originally wasn't going to go OOT beginning this past Monday. Unfortunately, something can up at work and he had to go across the country to meet with 2 different people. I obviously wasn't happy, but he had to meet with them now. He shortened his trip (2 days total) and promised his phone would be on 24/7. I was just very glad that nothing happened while he was gone! If he goes, I hope your LO stays put!
My DH was also asked to go out of the country for a week - two weeks before my due date. I said NO. In fact, I told him that he is not allowed to go out of town in the month leading up to the due date. He (and his job, thankfully) were fine with that.
Re: DH's work wants him to go OOT 4 weeks before due date..

Mr Techie isn't travelling at all starting Oct 1st (we have a Dec 5th official due date but are expecting an earlier baby).
You should be fine. It's just a few days, and if anything happens he could get back sooner if he had to.
I'll be 38 weeks when my husband goes overseas for a week.
