Um, I think my son's cahones dropped!

( i didn't really want to say BALLS because that would just be a little to forward). Embarrassed

But yesterday, I noticed that his..um...balls all of a sudden DROPPED...like I could see them and they were much more prominent. Really? Does it happen just like that? Kind of freaked me out at first, until MH reassured me that this was 'normal.' Well, how the hell am i supposed to know...it's not like I have them! 

is 1 year old around the time for this to happen?

    I truly have no idea what you are talking about and I have an almost 2 year old boy. His have always been prominent enough.

    I have a daughter so i honestly have no idea what happens with little boys' junk. But your post made me laugh. And maybe this is the "something new" i will learn today! Lol

    I have no idea what happens with little boys junk either, so when i went to change his diaper yesterday after daycare, i just was like 'oh look...balls.' I wonder if his voice will change too Wink

    Are you sure it's not just a matter of temperature? If he's warmer, they are further from the body, colder... they are all tucked up and cozy. Seriously, I have zero idea what you mean unless you've been dealing with undescended testicles, but you would have talked about it with your pedi.

    I agree that its right after birth, but pedi always checks DS so Im thinking that PP about the temp may be whats going on

    PP's are correct in that baby boy's testicles drop before birth or shortly their after, if not they have undescended testicles, a medical condition that should be monitored by a doctor and may need surgical intervention. My husband is a urologist, I know more about testicles and peniss' than I ever cared to know.  :)  But yes, depending on the temperature of the room and the baby they will move up and down somewhat.

    I think you just observed them "relaxed" for the first time. When boys are colder or tense, their scrotum will draw up and their testicles will appear to be inside their body more, so the scrotum looks "empty".

    When boys are warmer or more relaxed, their scrotum is more loose and their testicles are very much outiside of their body and much more visible.

    I remember telling Dh when Ds was just a couple of months old, that I'd gotten quite the education on the male package since having a son. lol.

    Thanks everyone! I had no idea that temperature could affect the positioning. Now I know! And DS definitely had a temp last night, so now it's all making sense.
