DD was FF from 6 months on, and DS from 3 months. It's a decision I/my body made. They are on regular formula. To me, it's like any other expense in my budget. I made a choice to have a child and all the costs that go with the kid. I'm NOT talking special formula that's outrageous. Just your run of the mill Enfamil.
I feel the same way about diapers. I don't get b!tching about it. Like, did you not know about diapers?
That is all.
Re: S/O: Anyone else not care that they spend $ on formula?
W was on Alimentum from 6 weeks to 13 months. That's $25/can. 2-3 cans per week.
I never cared about spending the money. It was a necessity. End of story.
I am just blown away that someone can essentially steal formula from a hospital just because they think being a nurse affords them that opportunity. And then come on here and _bitch about not being reimbursed for what was taken? Call me harsh, but she's a disgrace to the medical profession.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Agreed, Bub. And getting reimbursed for something you didn't pay for is stealing. Straight up.
I predict a DD today.
Christmas 2011
I BFed, but still got a crapton of formula for free, just by signing up with the formula companies (I traded the formula checks for coupons that I could use). I got TONS of samples in the mail, which I passed on to people who used it.
But I guess that requires some effort on her part, so wasn't an option.
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
I care about spending money on formula just like i care that my freaking kids have uped my grocery budget by like $75 a week!
J/K
DD was on preemie formula for a while then high priced fancy stuff for a while, DS was EBF, but of course i was willing to pay to feed my child an would never complain about the expense. It is all part of having a kid, I expect to pay more for things.
That being said as I said in the post below the poster is getting more and more strange with each post I have zero respect for her at all.
Like, OMG, I'm not gonna get reimbursed for stuff I got for free? That's SO unfair!! *hairflip*
*stomps out of post*
I think formula costs is something that goes along with deciding to have a child. Sure people plan to BF, but sometimes things don't go as planned. I bought double for the entire first year, and yes, used Target brand, but still, it's basically an expense I CHOSE.
And about that name post....She said her BROTHER called to tell her the name of his GRANDSON....then said that her COUSIN named the child xxxx. So. did her Niece/Nephew marry their Cousin? Or does she not understand how people are related? Or is something backwards going on where her niece/nephew is ALSO her cousin?
It's a necessity; I wouldn't have cared about it any more than I care about having to buy diapers. It would have sucked, but whatever. You choose to have a child, you choose to pay the expenses that go with that choice.
Unless, of course, you're a nurse and can steal it from your employer. Then I guess *free* formula is just a perk of your job, right?
I was a little late reading the post so I didn't reply, but THANK YOU for saying this. It's exactly what I was thinking. It made me cringe to read her post. I work in a hospital where this just wouldn't fly. In fact, people get fired for steeling *** that doesn't belong to them. Freebies like that are for the patients, not for the staff to help themselves too (and then b1thch about not being able to return for cash). Unbelievable.
ETA: and no, buying formula wouldn't have bothered me if I hadn't breastfed. It's like buying diapers. You have a baby, you should know what expenses to expect and plan for.
