December 2010 Moms

Something in the water

I live in a small town. I'm talking 9,000 people, maybe 10k. One elementary school, one junior high, one high school...truly, it is where "everybody knows your name". We're small, but we've got 23+ churches (crazy, right?!) and it seems like this year there has been a baby boom in our churches and throughout our community. Just in my church alone, among my friends, there has been this huge baby/pregnancy explosion! I am convinced that there is something in the water!!

In June, baby boy Aaron was born. In July, baby girl Hayden. In August, baby boy Zane. In September, baby boy Anden and another September LO, baby girl Sophia. We get the month of October off (whew!) but baby girl to-be-named will arrive in November. Then our sweet Nolan in December (assuming he doesn't come early). Then baby team pink in January, baby green in January, baby team green in February and baby team green in March. And surely, this is only the beginning.

There have been reports of even BIGGER booms in other churches in our community. Can we all agree that there is something in the water in my little town? Gad-zukes!

  • Oops - I left three babies off the list that were all born between March and July. Oh well, you get the point.

  • My school feels like that. Every year there's at least 5 babies born to faculty/staff members. My principal said that she would like one year without having to search for maternity leave subs.

  • i dont live in a small town or anything but im finding that a lot of women are pergnant here too.  when i see someone i know and tell them im pregnant, theyre usually like "congrats, did you know so and so is expecting too?"
  • Definitely something in the water. One of my very close friends is due in October, my BFF November, and me in December. We don't have a very large group of friends, so for 3 of us to be KU at the same time is a bit insane.

  • I work on a post partum unit and at one point this summer I was 1 of 10 people in about 100 staff members who was pregnant. There is always something in the water when you work with babies.

  • Between DH and I we have 25 friends from high school, college, and work that are pregnant right now or delivered in the past 2 months.
