Does anyone do this? I'm trying it very casually (like once a day) and DS ALWAYS pees or poops when he's on the potty. He's four months old. What do you think? Reflex? Habit? It doesn't matter what time it is-- first thing in the morning, before nighttime bath, middle of the afternoon....
Its something I'm going to stick with, I'm just wondering about someone else's experience.
Re: Talk to me about EC....
a good resource: diaper free baby. both a book and a website.
we offer bunny pottytunities at every diaper change, shortly after nursing, and after every waking. developmental milestones will cause pauses - when he learned to crawl, he didn't want his diaper changed, much less waste time sitting on the potty.
we also have designated cover-free time in the afternoons, when he's in just a prefold and is offered the potty every 15 minutes or so.
remember that this is a learning experience - you are learning to read your baby's cues and your baby is learning what happens when it feels like something's going on down there. If your goal is to retain awareness, and you regard misses as just that (misses) rather than "failures" then everyone will be much happier.
Let me know if you have more specific questions. I need to expand my knowledge, so even if I don't know I need to research (I'm about to be a mentor for my local DFB group.)
Good luck!

We're doing it casually. I only do it at home, not when out and about. I offer in the morning, after a nap or mid feed if there's nothing upon waking, and when he does his wee "toilet grizzle". He's changing from wees and poos at every nappy change to only a few poos a day right now so it's harder to catch them, I just need to remember to pay attention.
The main thing to remember is, don't worry about it, it's simple and straightforward. I bought the Diaper Free Baby book and totally didn't need to. Really just watch your baby, you probably already are aware of some of their signals, and take your baby to the toilet when you think they need to go. Once you do it a few times you really do get the hang of it.
