3rd Trimester

Would you go?!

I did call the hospital, and they said to do what made me feel most comfortable.  Unfortunately, they are an hour away and I don't want to wake DH for the drive, wake my mom to come over for DD, and then get sent home only to have to go back at 9 am for my doc appt.

When I am lying down, contractions are 7-10 minutes apart, and they have been for about three hours.  The last one was pretty intense. BUT I sit up and they are less intense, and a few minutes further apart. WWYD?

Re: Would you go?!

  • My doctor keeps telling me, if I am able to make them stop, then it's not the real thing.  But, you are so close.  This very well could be it.  I'd go if your not able to make them stop...  your mom wouldn't mind being woken up, i"m sure.

  • How are you feeling now?  Did you go?
  • One of my goals is to labor at home as long as possible, so if I were in your position I'd wait it out, depending on how intense they are. I've only got 20 minutes to the hospital though, I might be prone to leave a little earlier if I had an hour drive.
  • Personally, I would wait until they were closer together more consistently, no matter what position I was in / how I moved. But you have to do what you are comfortable with!

  • It all depends on what your birth plan is as well, if you plan to labor at home and just walk until youre ready to deliver then I would wait and see what happens. If you want to labor in a tub and or have an epidural and it doesnt matter to you to labor at home then I would go at at least 6min apart. JMO

good luck this may be it for you!

This... I was at the hospital waaay too long with DD... but I layed down a couple hours ago and no contractions woke me up, so I didn't end up going.  Still home and no more contractions- big time bummer.

  • I live about 45 minutes away from the hospital I'm delivering at.  That being said, my OB instructed me to phone his office when they are 7 minutes apart instead of the usual 4 minutes apart.
