I think of both. It reminds me of Murphy Brown's son Avery who was named after her character's mother. Then it also reminds me of friends who named their daughter Avery.

You can use it for either. If you look at the SSN top baby names it's on both. I use to like it til everyone and there sister started using the name.

I think both. It used to make me think just girl, but I have a very dear friend with a boy playmate of DS's with the name Avery and it suits him well.

both. the only avery i know in real life, is a boy (well a man...he's my age). but i've seen several averys on these boards that are girls.

Although the only Avery I have ever known was a boy, I still think of it just as much as a girls name. Avery is definitely for either, to me.

It used to be a boy's name, but now it is like the most popular unisex name. It one of the few uber common names that I still like. If I meet one more Ella I'm going to snap.*

*I have a super common name, the most popular girls name of the year I was born. In high school my best friend had the same name, we also hung out with two more of the same name. No one EVER called us by our name because there was too much confusion. So we all got called by our last names. Think about that ladies, is your last name really what you want your lovely daughters to be known by?
