S/O Similac Recall

Seriously? I cant even get on the site. Anyone else having problems? Guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow to check my lot numbers.

Re: S/O Similac Recall

  • I couldn't either. I think their site is probably over loaded with concerned mommies. I was planning on checking tomorrow too.

  • wasnt it because of beetles or something that they found in the factory? I like that they're being proactive, but this is just another strike against Similac for me Confused

Out of curiosity, what are the other reasons you have for not using Similac?  I used Enfamil with O, but Similac has sent me a few cans and I have over a dozen 5.00 coupon/checks from them already.  So, I thought I'd use that if I need to this time.

  • That's what I read too, beetle parts found in a sample they tested. Eww. I'm only checking because I recieved a free sample in the mail and bunch of ladies on the October board said their samples were part of the recall. Not really planning on investing in Similac.

  • I can't get on the website either. I know its just overloaded. I got two free cans from similac and would like to know if they have problems with them..Guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow to look or in the middle of the night.

I know that different babies do better on different formulas. I used to work @ a daycare and the babies that were on Similac seemed to have more digestive issues than the ones on Enfamil. Also, Similac spitup is really smelly to me.

I did like the fact that I got the HUGE samples from them, and I have all of those vouchers still up on the fridge. I am still planning on using Enfamil though.

interesting...I wonder why those parents didn't switch formulas?  After I stopped EP, I had to try 3 different formulas in order to avoid digestive issues with O.   I also didn't have a baby who spit up, so I'll have nothing to compare it to.  I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something serious which I've failed to learn.  I'm just hoping I won't need formula this time...

Oh yeah nothing serious. Just my preference (for what its worth). BTW I think I've decided to bf for the first 6 weeks (while im recovering and out of work). Do you think I should try this and then switch to formula, or do you think that I should just start off with formula?

  • For those checking Similac samples they received in the mail-where do you find th lot number on the cans?

    Thanks!

If you are planning on giving breastfeeding a try, do it!!!  I wanted to BF for as long as possible with O, but she never latched so I had to pump.  I would suggest breastfeeding for as long as you want/can.  Even getting a few wks of breast milk in baby is better than not at all.

This is what I heard. I'm going to pump so I wont have to worry about nipple confusion or anything

  • At first I couldn't get on the site but I kept refreshing the page and eventually it worked.
