Attachment Parenting

Attachment Parenting ?

Hi, I usually post on the 6-9 month board and always hear about the AP board and I just wanted to know what is Attachment Parenting and are there any links that someone can give me so I can read up on it.

I would google it but I would like to know of some genuine links and information about it.

TIA

Same here. I was raised to believe that "AP" is just "common sense" and had no title or books to it. Then I became a lurker here, then realized, "Wait a minute.. I AM one of 'them'!" haha

  • Haha

I was just chatting with another AP mom and we were musing that "Attachment Parenting" should just be called "parenting" since, without outside influence it's what most people would do naturally

I read a great book called:  Attachment parenting: instinctive care for your baby and young child

got it from the library, but it's also on Amazon for less than $2

    Welcome to the board :-)

That was how I got into the board as well, realizing that I do all these things already. In fact in Scandinavia (where I am originally from) most of these things are normal. In Sweden for example pediatricians recommend bed-sharing after 2 weeks for easy feeding at night and most parents wear their baby (because at one point around 2-3 months they start hating lying down in their pram).

  • Hm that link was interesting. I was just lurking and read that info and realized that I already do all those things naturally. My DS was sort of a big surprise to both me and my SO so it's not like I read about parenting styles or even pregnancy and getting pregnant or anything in preparation for someday having a child. It all just kind of got thrown at me at once and I've just been sort of going with the flow. Haha so I guess that means I'm on board with AP!
