i mostly EBF but my LO does eat a little throughout the day... not much tho. he'll have some toast in the morning and LOVES chicken... but he really isn't eating a whole lot... today we were at the library where there are kids close to his age and there was an 11 monther bigger than him... and another kid one month older than him who is larger as well.... i don't know if it's genetics or lack of food.... anyone have any input on this??
Re: 13 (plus) months old and EBF and weight/size question...
Did you take him to his 1 year appt? What did the doctor say?
My first has always been pretty thin but tall. All kids are different.

My DD is almost 13 months, and still gets about 90% of her calories from breast milk. She'll snack on bits and pieces of things throughout the day, but probably not even enough to add up to one small meal. She still nurses every 2-3 hours during the day (and sometimes once at night).
In terms of her size, she has dropped in her percentile - she was 95th %ile for height and weight, and is now around 75-80th%ile - but I think it's mostly from being so mobile and just slimming out as a toddler.
If your doctor isn't concerned, and she's still nursing a lot and getting calories/hydration from that, then I wouldn't be worried.
Oh my gosh, your DD is just so precious!!!!
And to the OP -- I agree it's all different. My DS is probably taller than your LO at 8 months, but both DH and I are super tall so it makes sense. There's so much that goes into it. I haven't been pushing regular food as much as I feel like I should be at this point, so this makes me feel better that it's ok for him to rely almost solely on BM for a while longer.
Some kids are just smaller. Kiddo has been pretty good with solids but I still know kids under 1 who outweigh him.
If he's happy and healthy and meeting milestones, I wouldn't worry too much about his size - someone has to be on the small end ;-)

DS was always 90th - 95th percentile but dropped to 75th at his 12 month appointment. He usually eats a fair amount of solids and has a few ounces of whole milk in a sippy every few days, but besides that he's EBF'd.

Each baby is different. Annalise was EBF, and we introduced solids slowly to her. She just has always liked to eat. By 12 months she was eating 3 meals of solids plus 2 snacks and also nursing 5-6x a day. She's stayed above the charts for height and 75-85th for weight. (She was 90-95th for weight and dropped when she started crawling.)
My niece was EFF. At 18 months she is starting to eat more solids. At 13 months she wasn't eating a whole lot. She's very petite. I don't know her percentiles or weight, but she's tiny compared to what Annalise was at the same age.
