Balance Check In

One of the 7 B's of AP is Balance. From Dr. Sears:

"In your zeal to give so much to your baby, it's easy to neglect the needs of yourself and your marriage. As you will learn the key to putting balance in your parenting is being appropriately responsive to your baby ? knowing when to say "yes" and when to say "no," and having the wisdom to say "yes" to yourself when you need help."

What have you done to maintain balance this past week?

Re: Balance Check In

  • My plans for balance got royally screwed by mandatory OT at work again. I'm totally over the overtime!

I did manage to get out to Target for an hour by myself. I was really pissy all Friday & Saturday b/c of the work thing & basically told DH "I have to get away for an hour, like now." He was totally fine with it.

  • Left LO with my mom for 2 and half hours while I got my haircut and highlighted and had a glass on wine.  It was heaven!!

  • I went grocery shopping by myself. I'm not sure that really qualifies as balance, but I enjoyed shopping without having to bounce Anna every time I stood still to look at something.

I just realized it's been 11 months since I cut my hair and my glasses are starting to delaminate or something - I should probably take care of those things...

  • it was DH's bday, so we had sprout's teacher babysit while we went to movies + lunch out (DH's choice). we had a great time, and it sounds like sprout and her teacher had a blast. it's still plenty hot here for the inflatable kiddie pool :)
  • Not much this past week but we are going to a wedding this Saturday.  Dh is a groomsman so we have to be there early.  My mom will be babysitting for about 9 hours.  It should be a ton of fun!

I know this might sound silly but we planned something last night that we are excited just thinking about.  DH and I loved gelato when we were in Italy for our honeymoon, we don't like it here in the US anymore, it just isn't the same.  A new Italian restaurant opened in our area and we got take out last night.  DH told the owner about our gelato thing and he told us of a place in Philly that has it imported from Italy and it is amazing.  It is right near a restaurant DH and went to early on in our relationship with a photo booth, we still have the pics from the booth on our fridge.  We decided to go on a date night soon to that restaurant and try the gelato.  Just planning it was really fun and exciting!

  • We had the baby with us, BUT since DH can finally walk again; we went to IHOP and had breakfast last weekend.  It was awesome Smile  Claire tried honeydew and cantelope, and loved both!
