first woven wrap

Hi...I need some advice about woven wraps. I have a moby that I love, but DD is 3 months old now and I'd love to try some back carries. I found a didymos marigold size 6 on TBW that I'm thinking of getting. Do you think that's a good choice for my first woven? Could also be my only woven, since they're so expensive! : ) TIA!

Re: first woven wrap

  • I've heard alot of good things about marigold, but I've never handled one.  Didy's have great resale value too.

It could possibly be your only wrap but they are addicting and you'll want more.  I'd highly recommend having two, one in a size 6 and one in a size 4 but that's just my preferance.

  • To be honest, if it's a new marigold I wouldn't..not being a first woven.  The linen blends can be super stiff and tough to break in.  My Robert was extremely stiff like it was starched linen.  If that had been my first woven, I think I may have been put off by them.

I think a good first choice is a Girasol (they are super soft and easy to wrap with), any Natibaby (usually very wide and super soft as well) or any of the Didy stripes (again easy wrapping, not to much grippiness, and soft).

Oh I also agree with Kwinters..one may not be enough, they are addictingStick out tongue

  • I think the size is a good choice as it will do all carries, and gives you length to work with.

I'm looking for a shorter length though now, to give myself more options.

I can't comment on the didymos as I've never touched one, but I got a hoppediz for my first one and it was super soft right from the beginning and easy to work with.

I'm looking at getting a girasol as I believer their lighter for summer, and in a size 4. (3.6m)

  • I have only tried a few wraps, FWIW.  The Girasol I have was broken in by Tonya G but it is really soft and snuggly and they aren't too expensive.  That might be a good option.  I had mine made into a RS but I would love to get another for the next baby.

I also have a BBSlen.  It isn't as cuddly as the Gira but it is a much cheaper option and it feels fine.  novatoys.com has had them on sale for a while so you could try new or search TBW for a used one.  I believe my size 4.9m from nova was under $80 including shipping.
