Hi,
It is my first pregnancy and I took two pregnancy tests both were positive so I called my doctor today and they just set up an appointment. From friends and family I have heard that usually they have you come in to confirm you are pregnant with a blood test. Has anyone else had this?
Re: No blood test, doctor just set up appointment for 8 weeks
My doctor did not do a blood test but did have me come in and take a urine test to confirm my pregnancy. Plenty of ladies do not have appointments until 8-10 weeks though. It is completely normal!
PS Looks like we have the same due date
Edit: OH, and you have Owen and Nolan/Nolen on your name list too!
Good choices!
Yup. My experience too - both times now. I just called my OB for 1st appt and it is right around 8 weeks. I just told them i was PG, and that was it.

totally normal. I am at a new doctor this time (we moved) and it's the same as the old OB. I got in at 8 weeks for an u/s. Nothing prior.
I have Kaiser as well and they sent me to the nurse clinic for a urine test, also no co-pay. The test came back negative but since I had gotten 2 digital positives at home they sent me for blood work to figure out what was up. That's the only reason I had blood work done. They also scheduled me for what they assume is an 8 week ultrasound, even though I told them I didn't think I was that far along, they are basing it on LMP but it was my first cycle off BCP and so it was really long and I think I am actually 2 weeks behind what they think.
Mine is the same, they just said I could make a 10-week appointment. They told me I could come in for a blood test to confirm if I wanted to, but it was up to me (I'm going in tomorrow for the test, I figure it would be good to touch base).
I guess if you have no issues and there's no reason to worry, they don't see you as soon. I was a bit concerned at first because lately it seems like all the pregnant women I know have been seeing their doctors really often. But it occurred to me that all of them were over 35 and/or had had issues getting pregnant, so their docs probably wanted to monitor them more closely.
Been away from theBump for a while, getting active again for all the good advice
