if you've had an endometrial biopsy - please come in (s/paifw)

hi cuties -

i'm getting this done next week and have lots of questions (i'm sure you're not surprised).

1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it.

2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure?

3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort?

4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense?

5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy

6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated?

thanks, I appreciate any insight

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense?  I had to pay that too.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy  Take some ibuprofen before.

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated?  3 day lag in lining, corrected with progesterone after LH surge.

  • 1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it. I was awake.

    2.  what did it feel like?  It felt very pinchy and very scrapey. how long was actual procedure? Just a few minutes and as soon as it was over, the pain stopped.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  I did. did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort? I may have spotted and had mild cramping, but I can't even remember- so that's a good sign.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense? I'm not sure how much it cost.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy. I was told to take 800 mg of Motrin an hour before the procedure. I think this helped.

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you? No, of course nothing was found from it but my doc treated me with two weeks of Doxy anyway- just to be on the safe side. how are they being treated?

    hi cuties -

i'm getting this done next week and have lots of questions (i'm sure you're not surprised).

    1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it.  I only took 600 mg of Advil beforehand

    2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure?  Honestly it was not much worse than a pap smear for me.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort?  I went to work, and I had none of the above.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense?  Well mine's for coculture...so it's still TBD.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy  Treat yourself to something nice afterwards - I got a mani/pedi!

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated?  Again, this was for coculture, so a little different...

    thanks, I appreciate any insight

    hi cuties -

i'm getting this done next week and have lots of questions (i'm sure you're not surprised).

    1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it. Awake

    2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure? It pinched quite a bit, and felt kinda like a pap, but with more pinching.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort? I had it done on my day off, but I could've gone to work after. I spotted a bit, and felt slightly crampy for a few hours after, but nothing too bad.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense? I only had to pay my copay - the testing was covered by the insurance I had at the time.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy. I would say if you have had lingering pain from other procedures, take some pain meds beforehand and you should be fine.

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated? When I had the procedure done, it was because I hadn't had a period in over a year, and my lining was very thick. They were concerned it might be pre-cancerous, so they did the biopsy. Thankfully, the test didn't turn up anything to be concerned about.

    thanks, I appreciate any insight

Good luck, hon....I think you will be fine doing this!

  • 1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it. Awake, had it done during my diagnostic hysteroscopy.

    2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure?  Sharp pain that I haven't really felt before. Literally, I could tell he was scraping it.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort? I was stil a bit uncomfortable and didn't go to work (but I had planned it that way). I probably would've been able to do my desk job though.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense? I do not remember this, I think it was covered by insurance as diagnostic testing

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy Loose clothing and Ibuprofen:)

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated? Not that I know of, so I am assuming it was good news.

It's painful, but doesn't last long. For me, the pain almost took my breath away and I almost started squirming. And I like to think I have good pain tolerance:) But again, it's very short-lived, so I don't think the twilight is necessarily worth it. Good luck, sweetie, you'll do great!

    1.  were you awake or under twilight?  my RE's office gave me the option of going under but I'm not taking it. I was awake; twilight was not given as an option.

    2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure?  It was very quick, and felt like a tug or a snip. Similar to a pap, but maybe a little more nailbiting, and lasted a few minutes longer.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort? I was totally fine afterwards. I had a little spotting, but no real pain or discomfort.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense? Mine was sent out as well, I think it was $475.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy: it was a regular day for me....I was at work before and went to work after

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated? no issues, everything was A-OK!

    Good luck wormie worms!

    1.  were you awake or under twilight? I never had the option of having it under twilight. I've had it done 4 times so far.

    2.  what did it feel like?  how long was actual procedure?  It hurt like a son of a b!tch for me every time. Once she had to repeat it right away bc she didn't get a good enough sample. I thought about kicking her in the face. Once it's done though, the pain went away for me. It's a short pain.

    3.  were you ok to go to work afterwards?  did you have any bleeding, pain, discomfort? I was ok to go back but I usually tookj the day off to rest and lay down. I tend to cramp a lot from them and I spot.

    4.  my RE's office is sending my biopsy out for testing.  i have to pay a $500 fee to lab doing testing, did you have a similar expense? I think I paid a little under $400 for mine, with insurance paying about half.

    5.  any tips/suggestions for day off biopsy? put a panty liner in just in case of spotting, bring some pain relievers to take after it's done. I was told not to take any before hand.

    6.  did this test turn up any issues for you?  how are they being treated? Mild endo but with forcing an AF, it's been better.

  • 1) I was awake

    2) I'm not going to lie... it hurt, but the whole procedure is only a few minutes and the actual cutting out only take a few seconds, so the pain is intense for those few seconds and then subsides

    3) I had bleeding and did go to work

    4) Mine was not that expensive at all... I think I paid $75

    5) I would see if they can give you any pain meds prior. I took tylenol and it did absolutely nothing!

    6) The test showed my lining was 2 days behind where it should have been according to my cycle. It is what my RE expected and I am on a high does of progesterone and estrogen to help with my lining in the second part of my cycle

Good luck! It is definitely quick, so it will be over fast and then you will never have to do it again :)
