The Day Care Search has begun...any recommendations???

Hello all you lovely Toledo bumpies!!!  I have started my search for Day Care and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations.  I have only checked out one center (St. Chalres Child Development Ctr) and it was nice, the people were very nice, but the place kind of smelled...so DH and I are like...ummm...maybe we should keep looking...  I realize it was the end of the day and they have a ton of kids in there all day, but still, wasn't the best first impression.  Also, they have a high infant to staff ratio (2:10), which I didn't love.  The place was recommended by a friend of a friend, so I am sure they are good,  but would like to check out some more places before making a decision.  We live on the west side (Lasky-Lewis area) and I work downtown - so it would be ideal if it wasn't too far from there...

Any suggestions would be appreciated :) Thanks

  • Not sure if you will see this but check out Little Miss and Mister on Alexis and Rambo. You can also use the Ohio Job and Family Services website to help in your search.

  • Hi, You should check out the Catholic Club on 16 th and Jefferson, and there is also Childrens Discovery Center on St. Clair, above Jimmy Johns.
  • Thanks for the info, I will check those places out!!!
  • I live near that area and also work downtown.  We use My Little School (near Alexis and Telegraph) and we are very happy.

I also liked Little Sprouts Academy when I was looking at daycares.  However I know they have moved and grown since I was looking (two years ago) so I didn't see their new location.

Also I know someone who uses Love N Learn daycare on Secor and they are quite happy too.

    Good luck!

  • well, I personally have seen many.  I was a preschool teacher for 10 years at Owens College (Toledo Campus).  I would HIGHLY recommend one that is NAEYC accreditted.  These child care centers have higher standards than other local centers, better child/teacher ratios, more educated staff/teachers.
  • Not sure if you've already found a daycare, but our son just started at Children's Discovery Center and it is great!  They have a few different locations, one of them is by franklin park on Talmadge.  Good luck!
