britax roundabout

do anyone have the britax roundabout? how well does it fit in your car (and what kind of car do you have?)

I think I want to purchase on Roundabout for my mom's car - it's a smaller car, which is why I am worried about size.

Or, if you have a car seat you like - please recommend!

Re: britax roundabout

  • I have one and we have been very happy with it. Actually I this is our 2nd because we replaced it with the same one after we were in a car accident. I have a Pilot so the size is not really an issue. I do know that it is a lot smaller than some of the other Britax carseats.

  • We got one since we had a smaller car (BMW 323i) when DD was a baby and its great.  The larger ones wouldn't it rear-facing.  She is almost to the weight limit now, so we'll be getting her a larger seat and DS will be in the Roundabout in a few months.

  • We have 2 Roundabouts. One in my Honda Pilot and one in DH's Toyota Camry. No space issues at all, and his Camry is old (1999) so it's way smaller than the newer ones.

  • We have the roundabout in both cars - volvo cross country and honda civic.  We picked it b/c it is the smallest Britex.  In both cars, rear facing sucks for the passenger, but at least they can fit.  I feared with a bigger one no one would fit in the front at all!

  • I was able to get a very secure fit easily forward-facing in even my 1999 Cougar which had scooped-out sport seats in the back and no LATCH.  One of the best features of the Roundabout (besides how compact it is) is that it's REALLY easy to install even using the seatbelt lock off.  It's a great seat.
  • We have a Toyota Corolla, and it fits just fine.  It's a great seat.  We've used it many times on planes, too, and it's super-easy to install.
  • We have a Roundabout 50 and a Chrysler Pacifica. DD2 is still RFing it. We also have the same seat in DH's car for DD1 to ride in (FFing) on occasion.

It's NOT that much smaller than our Marathon, which is DD1's regular seat in my car. Maybe a teeny bit of difference on height, and a teeny bit narrower? But it fits nicely.

If you didn't know better and they weren't labeled, you would think they were the same seat. Except the Roundabout doesn't have the shoulder pads on the straps, and the pull-strap to loosen/tighten is skinnier than the Marathon's.

I don't know if the regular Roundabout is significantly smaller, but the Roundabout 50 is not.

  • Honestly, if you are going to spend money on the RA then I would just go with the RA 50. The regular RA is significantly smaller, which also means that it will be outgrown a lot earlier. We replaced ours with another Marathon when DD outgrew it rear-facing. We also recently purchased a RA 50 as well.

They are great seats. You really shouldn't have any issues getting a RA 50 or a Marathon in a smaller car.

  • We have a Roundabout and a Roundabout 50.  The regular one is significantly shorter than the 50, so if you want it rear-facing in a smaller car, it may be a good option.

Conversely, your DC will outgrow it much sooner and you'll need another seat.  My DS outgrew the regular one recently but still has several inches left to go on the 50.
