Mary Tyler Moore and Laverene and Shirley and Friends are some of my old school faves.

I loved Weeds "Little Boxes" when they had a theme song especially since a different band sang it each week.

I love One Tree Hill's Gavin Degraw "I Don't Wanna Be" too. They just brought it back, acutally.

i always loved the friends theme song. and HIMYM is great--did you see the video where the cast sang the theme? it is hilarious.

Most tv shows nowadays use existing songs and dont have songs written specifically for them like Malcolm in the Middle did.

I also loved the Fresh Prince Theme song!

I love the theme song for Greatest American Hero. Also, the one for Laverne & Shirley and Golden Girls! I'm an 80s girl at heart, what can I say?

I will agree with HIMYM! There is actually a full-length version of that song and the very end of it is where the theme song comes in! It's really good. I think it's by the writers of the show, actually (but I could be wrong).

I also love Golden Girls, Full House, and Saved by the Bell!

Ditto the nods to Fresh Prince, Friends, and Golden Girls! I like Big Bang Theory's (BNL wrote/sing it)... DH & I sing along with it when the episode starts. I'm hoping it starts getting ingrained into his brain. (DH leans more Creationism, and I'm a scientist... going to be interesting to teach our future kids, lol!)

and Growing Pains, Who's The Boss, Facts of Life, Family Ties....

ahhh, there are sooooo many!

And, of course, Two and a Half Men....we actually played this at our wedding during the garter toss!

I love theme songs in general (my DH and I, I'm almost pained to say, worked out a version of Growing Pains with harmonizing parts. Doing this with theme songs has gotten us through many a long car trip). It's a shame that lots of shows don't have them anymore.
