Dear family, don't call me, I'll call you...

Dear family,

I know you are excited. I promise I will call you when I am in labor.  There is no need to call every night right as we sit down to dinner and ask if I am having any contractions...

    Turn off your phone and change the message to say, "Hey we are home but enjoying the last few moments of quiet, leave a message and we will call you back...don't worry...we will let you know when we are in labor."

     

    solved our constant ringing phones!

    DH and I both selectively answer phone calls now.  I have informed all family and friends that I will let them know what is going on when it is time.  We are planning on waiting until after we have the baby to tell anyone that I am in labor, but they don't know that.  I second doing what JarBaby suggested.  We have also told friends if they want to know if we had the baby to check facebook.  I know it is really un personal, but this has become the norm in our group of friends.

    I'm with you on this, and I'm only 38w, so I know I'm going to snap before D-Day finally arrives. Yesterday it was DH's mom and sister, and two of his friends.

    Today my mom, brother, two co-workers and a neighbor all called me to see if I was in labor. WTF? If I am, and you're on the list to get the call, you'll know. If you're not on the list, you'll find out whenever, but don't call me every day in the meantime. I could be pg until November, so give me a break here.

    i know what you are going through!! My mom would call me every freaking day and ask if I was contracting. I tried not answering her calls, but then she would convince herself that I was in labor and just not telling her. Now that i have had my baby, she calls me every day to check on the baby....it drives me nuts.

    I told all of my family this weekend that if they call me non stop to find out if I'm in labour I will stop answering my phone and not call them back.  Now to tell DH's family.  I have a feeling they will be our problem.

    No SHIIT!  I totally hear you on this one.  I'm SOOOOO sick of the damned phone ringing CONSTANTLY.  Each family member must call 5 times a day, no kidding.  I'm so sick of it!

    i posted something similar earlier this week. i think once the "***" in me came out everyone got the point.  it is sad you have to be "mean" in order to get some respect!! I have told my mother and mil that we would call if there was any news, but still, they call my home phone...if i don't answer then my cell phone, no answer there, text me, then my dh cell and text him.  if that does not work, my mother comes over to check on me!! ugh!!

    can't wait to have our little man here!!
