I have no idea what kinds of perks or discounts are given by each store. Where are you registering and why? Does anyone know who gives the best discounts?
Hmm...I'm not sure which place is "best," but I can tell you my experience with registering at BRU this past weekend. We recieved a gift bag with 2 coupons for $5 off a $25 purchase, a diaper/wipes sample and some other coupons for Pampers. They have a 10% off registry completion program. I have heard that their return policy is better than Target's. Also, if you sign up for a free Rewards Membership, you will recieve points for everything that is purchased off your registry, and for every $150, you will earn a $5 gift card.
Hope that helps.

You can register at more than one place to benefit from all of them. You don't have to tell anyone you are registered at multiple places. Just let people know which one would be easiest for most people.

This. Babies R Us and Target both give you 10% off everything you registered for and didn't receive.
I'm registering at both BRU and Target. Both give decent gift bags when you register and both have 10% off completion. Right now you should also be able to find a coupon for BRU for a $25 gift card when you register (expires 11/30). I'll also be signing up for their rewards program, which is pretty amazing. I know people who have registered at Kohl's in the past and had problems. They don't have a lot in store and they have a lot of registry errors.

I wonder if the BRU coupons are regional. We got a gift bag when we registered, but no coupons or giftcards
We are also registering on amazon.com because some of what we want can't be bought in a store.
