Baby food question

When did you completely wean your child off jarred food?

Tyler is eating mostly chicken, lunch meat, cheese, any fruit, yogurt, spaghetti, apple sauce, whole wheat bread and finger snacks for his food but he refuses to eat any veggies at all so we are supplementing them.

Should I wean him off the jars or keep giving him veggies?

We offer them anytime we have them and at restaurants but he hates them and worry he is not getting the nourishment from them.

Re: Baby food question

  • I say if he will eat jarred veggies but not finger food veggies, keep giving him the baby food and just keep offering the finger food veggies you are eating.

  • I don't really think there is an age that you have to wean them off of it.  We stopped when he started to show some disinterest in it and was mainly on table food.  Our pedi had said some kids will adjust to different textures at different ages so there is nothing wrong giving jarred food until they are comfortable with table food.  DS has been off of the jarred stuff since around 1 year old but we have actually just started buying a random jar of fruit here and there b/c he will eat those and not actual fruit. He loves yogurt too so we used to mix some jarred veggie into the yogurt.
