Waiting to tell at work

I'm petite and already starting to show more belly than I thought I would be at around ten weeks. I was hoping to be able to wait until 12 weeks at work before people, especially my principal, caught on to me. Is anyone else hiding the bump at work? Any concealing strategies?

Re: Waiting to tell at work

  • I had the same issue, not so much with showing but with everyone suspecting due to habit changes (no coffee, no happy hour, etc.) I finally decided that after I had my healthy ultrasound at 9wk2days that I would just tell them when I turned 10 weeks. I figured nothing was changing by 12 weeks (when I originally planned to tell) since I wouldn't have an another appointment by then, so I might as well tell them and relieve myself of the stress of hiding it!

I feel SO MUCH better that I did now, because week 10 was my worst symptom wise and it was nice to have people understand.

  • I have a feeling my boss suspects something due to my change in workout and eating habits (I'm his assistant so we know each other's routines pretty well) and the fact that I've gained a little bit of fluff, but I'm pretty positive no one else has a clue.

I have my second u/s next Wednesday.  If that goes well, I will tell him soon after.  I may or may not wait on releasing the news to the rest of the company for a few more weeks.

I'm using the hairband in the jeans buttonhole trick and that helps hide the bloat bump more in my jeans and creates less muffintop.  I'm also just trying to be mindful of the tops I wear.

  • I'm telling my work this week... my belly suddenly popped and I am SO self conscious now! Lots of flowy tops and stretchy skirts/pants to conceal. Better to fit a size up than try to squeeze into too small stuff!!

  • I have to tell my principal by Thursday - I signed up to take a Student Teacher from the end of January - April 1st before I knew it was twins, but as much as I would like to have another teacher in the room for my 3rd Tri, I figure with the increased chance of bed rest or having them early I better not take one. Thursday is the deadline for requesting one, so I have to "unrequest" one by then too.  I'm planning to tell the rest of my coworkers sometime next week after we tell our families this weekend.  Can't hold out on it too much longer with this little bump I have going on!!

  • For the record we notice our bellies a lot sooner then other people do.  I thought I was showing at about 9 10 week and my DH said theres nothing there.  Yesterday I asked again and he said "I see a little bump but I know whats there"  So you may not have to tell for another 2 weeks.  Either way good luck :)

  • My store manager's wife just had a baby, and he wants other people at work to have babies so that it's more of a family culture.  One of the other managers just announced he and his wife are expecting after a miscarriage (SO happy for them!), but the store manager's still leaning on me to get pregnant.  I'm about 9 weeks along, and I think he's onto me!  I'm not really showing yet (just bloated!), but I've made the mistake of mentioning a few times how tired I've been.  He's been so excited and borderline pushy about it (in a positive way), that I couldn't resist a little prank: I came in one day and said, all excited, "Guess what, guess what!"  His face lit up like he just knew I was going to tell him I'm pregnant, and I said, "We got a new puppy!  Wanna see pictures?!"  He gave me quite a Look!  Bwa ha ha! :-D
  •  I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling to hide the bloat! I tried the bella band,  but I feel like it just makes my tummy look bigger. I liked the suggestion of billowy tops! I wore one to work today and thanks to my sudden boost in the boob department, you could hardly see the bump. Thanks for the tips ladies and good luck on making the exciting announcement at work!
