Amnio or No?

Hello out there!

I opted to get the quad test done and our results came back negative for spina bifida or neural tube defects, but positive for Downs Syndrome.  The risk was still low (1:287), but enough that we wanted to have a more in depth ultra sound done.

 Today was our ultrasound, which didn't increase our risk, but it also didn't decrease it.  The spine and head all look fine, but he noticed a small patch in an area of the heart that is still a risk for Downs Syndrome.  He said there's not a risk that the baby will have any heart defects, it just means it's still a marker for the baby to possibly have downs syndrome.

 At this point we have chosen not to have an amniocentesis done b/c of the risks that go along with it.  But as first time parents, the worry that something is wrong is still there.

Does anyone have any advice?  Or had this happen that you could maybe help calm my nerves?

    I would ask them to give yu a # comparing the risk of DS vs the risk of m/c with the amnio, get genetic or other medical counseling, and make your decision from there.
