Hi Ladies!
I landed in the hospital last night again...boo. More terbutaline and monitoring. Everything still looks good other than the blasted contractions. They took a fibronectin test to see if the baby is going to come in the next few weeks. Thankfully, it came back negative, so my body still isn't buying into the contractions, thank God!
After about an hour or so, the contractions came back after the Terbutaline shot. The doctor came in then and got me another terb shot and a shot of totarol to stop them again. That seemed to work. I was prescribed terbutaline orally as a daily treatment...and put on bed rest until further notice. I guess you'll be hearing a lot more from me. ![]()
While I'm not super stoked about the bed rest, I can definitely tell you that I am thrilled that I don't have a baby yet and it doesn't look like I'm going to in the next couple weeks. Hopefully the little jumping bean decides to calm down (ha, yeah, right!) and decides to stay in there!
I love my doctor, I think having a doctor you really click with is such a huge part of labor and delivery and especially if you have any complications. She's sent specific instructions and not only that, she's been at the hospital every time I've needed her. When they page her for me she calls me back in 20 minutes or less. I can't say enough about her.
I do have some hospital stay observations that I'll post in a bit.
Sorry it's such a long post!
Xo
Re: Bed Rest :(
Bed rest can totally stink. There is a BR check-in on the high-risk PG board.
However, I agree, it is better than the alternative! Hang in there baby.
I would invest in Netflix, you can watch movies online all day and maybe take up knitting or something!
I do have netflix, so I'm excited about that! Plus, we just got Directv, so at least I have plenty of media options
A little over a month ago I got an itch to cross stitch--I have NO idea why. But I think I will pick that back up again and work on it. It's Larry from Veggie Tales, haha!
Thanks for your note
Thank you for your nice note! This is small fries
I'll just get to watch lots of movies! haha.
Bed rest is no fun, but when this time is over and you have a healthy baby, it'll all be worth it. That's what people keep telling me, anyway, LOL! I've been on bedrest too, for 4 weeks already, and my notebook computer has been a lifesaver - a great way to stay in touch. My hospital even has birthing classes for women on bedrest, so you could see if your hospital has that as well. It would be something else to do to help pass the time. Hang in there and take care of you and LO. That's what this bed rest time is all about!
YIKES! Your story is all too familiar.
Take it easy and really be obedient about the bed rest. It helps a lot. The terb is a pain to take orally because of the side effects but stay on top of it and don't miss a pill, even if you've got to wake up in the middle of the night to take it. After a few days on a oral terb, my contractions came back. It isn't uncommon for the terb to stop working after a few days so just make sure to monitor contractions and get to the doctor as soon as they return. I'm on nepinefrine (sp?) and it has helped a lot, and has fewer side effects. If the terb doesn't work out, you might want to look into other options.
Good luck. I will be thinking of you!!
I feel your pain! I've been on bed rest since last Thursday (9/16) in the hospital, but I've been told I'll be able to go home and do bed rest tomorrow or the next day.
Yes, it sucks ... but it's best for baby, and those terrible contractions are gone (thank God)!
Being in and out of the hospital is not fun but hang in there. You are not alone!
Our beautiful baby boy!!!
