I am currently 33 weeks and my 1st shower is scheduled for next Sunday, September 26th. My large family/friends shower is on October 3rd and my co-workers are throwing me a shower on October 23rd, I am due Nov. 5th. I would have liked everything to be done before October 1st, to have everything organized and ready for our little girl, but with our schedules (mine and the hostesses) it was hard to pin-point dates.
I'm kinda freaking out that we don;t have a lot of our necessities and that our registries don't have anything puchased!! We did buy the crib, dresser and pack n play. I don't expect people to buy the things that are over $100.00. Just running out of time!
Re: Anyone Else having LATE baby showers?
My little man at 0-1-2
Mine is "scheduled" for November 27, 4 weeks to the day LO is due. I use the term scheduled loosely... but that seems to be when the hostess (mil) wants to do it.
I don't think its ideal to have the shower that late, but I'm not planning on anyone purchasing anything major for us. We bought the crib, bedding, wall art, pack and play, and my mom bought the travel system already. So if she comes early and we don't get the shower it won't be the end of the world.
My only shower is being held the day before I'm 35 weeks. I'm actually really freaked out that it's that late because its a small window to get everything else purchased, set up and ready for LO.
It was pretty much the only date that was available because my hostesses sister is due at the beginning of October so there were only a few weekends after that I could pick from. I sort of wish I would have pushed to have a September shower, oh well.
Well, I'll be 30 weeks tomorrow and was just asked about my shower by my best friend last weekend (ILs are planning it). So, I'm guessing it's still a couple of weeks away. And there's a church shower & I'm guessing a work shower...all of which are apparently a surprise and all getting closer and closer to game time.
I would like to be having them now, because I'd like to get eveything settled and ready, just in case he makes an early appearance.
The good news is that the crib & changing table were ordered over the weekend and some things were purchased off of one of my registries, so maybe soon...
I had a shower yesterday, 38 weeks and some change. We were pretty minimalistic with our registries and it's becoming more and more apparent that LO doesn't need more than clothes, diapers, and a place to sleep for a few months.
Plan the shower to have fun and celebrate, but don't hold your hopes up that your friends and family will buy alot of necessities. From my experience people like shopping for blankets and clothes, not breastmilk storage bags and diaper genies.
GL!
