Aubrey has her first diaper rash. It appeared Friday. We've been doing the change her often, keep her as dry as possible thing. We've also been using butt paste but it doesn't appear to be working.
Just plain Desitin has worked the best out of everything I have (butt paste, A & D, etc). J hasn't had too many rashes, thankfully, but that has worked the best for us.
I really like Aveeno diaper rash cream. But when she gets red - I like to let her have a lot of naked time and then I usually SLATHER her diaper area with vaseline for every diaper change.
if it's bumpy/rashy - it could be yeast - and in that case we use Rx diaper cream
I have found that most of the creams never seem to work. I finally asked my pedi about it and he gave us a prescription for Mupirocin. Every time she gets diaper rash, I use it and it will be gone in 1 night...it is amazing!
Allie ~ 01/26/09 ~ 7 lbs, 9 oz ~ 20.75 in.
& Amelia ~ 03/16/11 ~ 8 lbs, 1 oz ~ 21 in.
You can also let her soak in the bathtub and rinse her bottom off good, let her have naked time to get good and dry. I then slather mine with A&D/gold package(the stinky one) and Aquaphor/Vaseline.
I bought a few cloth diapers for diaper rash dealings too. I'll put one on Avery after we get home from day care so that I don't have to clean up pee from the floor but it helps her bum air out too
What is a reasonable amount of time to see if the other things clear it up? Since it's already been around since Friday I am tempted to call the doctor in the morning.
I called them this morning. They called me in some cream and they also had me pick up some lotrimin and I have to do the lotrimin 4 times a day and the cream as much as I want. I also gave her a baking soda bath this morning and will again tonight. If no improvement in a couple of days they want to see her.

Oooh, that makes me remember that I also use Epsom salt in her bath when she has a bad diaper rash too.
Thank you ladies...all excellent advice.
Sarah something you said about bumpy rashes caught my eye. It's like dots and red too...got me wondering if it is a yeast.

Thanks for all the help ladies!
