I tried to return an item today that was given to me at my shower without a gift receipt. It was once on my registry, but the person who bought it did not scan the registry when it was purchased, so I'd taken it off the registry after the shower to avoid getting any duplicates.

They wouldn't let me return it today since it wasn't on my registry. Does anyone know if I can add it back to my registry and then try to return it again?

Yes add it back to your registry and wait a couple of days then go in! I did this for a couple of items that were different from what I registered for.
