Northern California Babies

I have a screamer.

He has an appt today for a weight check and I'm going to bring up reflux because he seems to have a pretty bad case of it (DD had reflux and his symptoms are far worse than hers) but even treating that I think he's a fussy screamer.

I don't like it at all. I'm not a fan of the newborn stage to begin with, throw an inconsolable newborn in the mix and you have one mama who is about to lose it.

Re: I have a screamer.

  • I'm sorry :(

Do you have a carrier like a moby/baby k'tan/ergo that can carry him in an upright position? Maybe provide some comfort plus hold him upright to help the reflux?

  • Natalie was the same way, but never dx with refulx...although based on what I've read about it I think she likely had it to some degree.

    Have you tried a moby?

  • I'm sorry you have to deal with that! The newborn stage is hard enough as is! I agree with pps about a moby. When all else failed with o, the moby was a lifesaver!

  • Others already mentioned the Moby...

I will add a car into the mix...Not for him but for you and DD to go to the park and just get even 30 mins away...

  • *hugs* I so feel you on the not a fan of the newborn stage. Or infancy in general. I hope that if it is reflux you are able to find a solution! Or give him to DH while you relax with some headphones somewhere

  • ugh, I'm so sorry. I definitely feel you on the reflux issue. Hopefully the dr. can give him something if that's what it is. We're still waiting on our prescription (of course Rite Aid f-ed it up) so I don't know if it will work.

Others recommended the Moby and that helps us. Also we got the Rock n Play Sleeper by Fisher Price. It allows them to sleep on their backs but at an incline and that seems to help a little with getting longer stretches of sleep.

Also my ped. suggested cutting out dairy so I'm going to try that as well. Good luck!

  • I am sorry too. That is rough. Good luck....I hope it gets better.
  • Hugs! :(
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • Hang in there.  Britton was a screamer and I was ready to give her back.  About 5 weeks in, she mellowed and now I have a really chill, peaceful kid.  Good luck.

Good God, I hope this is us. Two more weeks, two more weeks....

I don't have a moby but I have a Pikkolo carrier (love) that he does alright with sometimes. Frankly when he's screaming the last thing I want is him attached to me, but whatever makes it stop. Driving helps sometimes, sometimes not. He got his Zantax prescription so hopefully that will help. DH and I both are at our wits end.

  • Ever think of trying chiropractic care for the reflux? I have been getting both my kids adjusted since they were little. Collin was 5 days old when he got his first adjustment.

Yes! Except the chiro I see doesn't do infants so I've been trying to find someone reputable that does in my area...and not having a ton of luck. Yet. I'm still on the hunt.
