Another day care question : )

We are trying to decide between Spring Branch Presbyterian and St. Christopher Episcopal. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either of these schools. I really appreciate it, Thanks!!

Re: Another day care question : )

  • we use st chris. E has gone since 15mo and s just started this month. The teachers are good and have been there a long time. Theyve been very flexible with my schedule needs and dd has gone from 2 mdo days to 3 full days a week. The director took s to her office and held him for his naps the first 2 days when he hadnt adjusted yet. They have a great shady playground too. Oh and the older kids can take dance, soccer shots and piano- the teachers come to the school.

  • We used Spring Branch Pres 2 days a week over the summer.  I didn't love it but I didn't have any real complaints either.  Cooper was happy enough there but since it was only temporary I wasn't really too picky.

Things I liked:  They take the kids out on buggy rides around the church.  The director and other office workers came into the baby room periodically just to play with the babies and would take one back to the office occasionally.  Cooper loved hanging out in the office.  I know they have a lot of the extras (gymnastics, music, etc) available for older kids so if you're looking long term that may be a factor.

Things I didn't like:  Large class size, his room normally had 6 to 8 babies depending on the day.  With two adults the ratios are appropriate but we moved him to a school where he's in a room with 2 other babies and one adult.  It is MUCH less chaotic, he naps better and it seems less stressful.  The infant room is very small and crowded, but once they move up a room there is much more space.  They also weren't very good at reporting, every day his sheet said he had a "great day" and nothing else.   I call bullshit.  I know that's a little thing but it always bothered me.

My big boy is bounding towards 4! Baby brother coming in October!
