Does scratching really make stretchmarks that much worse? I already have some from Katie and my weight gain/loss. I'm not concerned about getting more or anything, I've just always heard that scratching is bad.
Skin affected by stretch marks is very delicate so scratching can make them open up and bleed (happened to me with Ezra and of course it was ones right by my waist band of my pants. So I stopped wearing pants at home)
I don't think that scratching will cause you to have more stretch marks or to make them bigger though.

You get stretch marks when the elasticity in your skin breaks down. It's more genetic then anything. Scratching wont make them worse, it just may make your skin more sensitive in general.
I've been told this as well, coincidentally (or not) by people who have never been pregnant. I've scratched the crap out of my stomach but have yet to see a stretch mark on it, yet have had no itching on my ass and thighs but they are covered in big, red stretch marks.
