Babies: 6 - 9 Months

s/o solids...anyone else's 8 mo not too interested?

DD never seems really interested in eating. We started her on solids at 6 months and now, at 8 months, she barely eats 1/2 of a stage 2 container in one sitting--sometimes only 1/2 of a stage 1, if I'm lucky. Should I be concerned about this??

FWIW, she still nurses a ton during the day (every 2-3 hours at least and 2-3 times a night). She pretty small for her age and hasn't been gaining well. She is 14lbs 13oz and 26 in long.

  • My daughter is the same way.  Our pediatrician told us that food is "under one, just for fun" and that her primary source of nutrition should still be breast milk. At this point babies are still just learning tastes and textures.  DD loves to put food in her mouth but only a few morsels actually make it into her tummy.  No worries!

Thanks! That makes me feel a bit better :)

  • How 'bout finger foods?  My daughter LOVES to feed herself already so I'm going ahead and giving her "gum-able" overcooked veggies, fruits, shredded cheese and tonight, tiny pieces of bread.

She loves it and it keeps her busy :)

My boys couldn't have done this so early.  They're fine motor skills weren't there.

Hmm I haven't tried any finger foods yet. Maybe I should give them a shot! Not sure if she has the motor skills to feed herself yet, but we'll see. She certainly puts everything else that isn't edible in her mouth :)
