2nd Trimester

is my bump to small?

My doctor has not mentioned anything at all. It seems everyone I meet asks if theres something wrong with my baby because I dont have a huge bump. I know its kind of silly but it makes me paranoid

Re: is my bump to small?

  • In the pic your torso looks long, my doc said with shorter torsos you tend to show more and faster.  I asked b.c I thought I was showing too much.

    your bump is super cute!

If anyone asked me if something was wrong with my baby because I don't have a big bump, I'd wonder what was wrong with THEM!

Everyone shows differently.  I don't show that much... in fact, no one knows except people I've told.

Ignore those people.  They have no manners and no sense. A BAD combination.

  • You look fine to me.  We all carry differently, and your doctor would have said something if you weren't measuring correctly.

When people say something to me about my bump being too small, I just give them a dirty look and say that my certified expert of a doctor says the baby is just fine.

  • everyone says my bump is too small and it gets annoying really fast.  but as long as your dr isnt concerned, i wouldnt be either.  just ignore those rude comments...everyone carries differently.
  • if noone is concerned I wouldnt be either.  depending on your body type you wont show as much. Everyone always thinks I carry small, I have gotten several comments this time around....and this is my second baby.  I have a long torso so that is just how I carry.  My measurements have always been right on.

  • I've had several comments as well. I know the girl is laying sideways in there so I credit it to that.

  • People are morons.  The only person with any valid reason to be concerned about your baby's growth is your doctor.  If s/he isn't concerned, you shouldn't be either.  Random strangers are just full of stupid preconceptions.

Here's me when I was 20 weeks.  I'd say about 50% of people I know were telling me I was "huge" and the other 50% told me I was disgustingly tiny.  Literally not a single person was able to say "you look great" and leave it at that.

Worry not.  You look great :)

I think you look just fine. I just took this one:

Granted, I am a few weeks behind you, but this is my second baby. I was way bigger with my first. It's probably just the way the baby is laying.

  • you look cute!

ARgh! I wore a tight shirt out volunteering and although my bump is small, you could see that my belly button is popping out!!!

so at least 6 people commented on how small I am....it was getting old. The last was a mother/pregnant daughter I was helping..the mother said...see I told you she is pregnant! and they had a little conversation about my shape, fat content, and body right in front of me....In the end the mother told the daughter that if she wasn't such a fat ass she could have a cute belly button sticking out like my adorable bump!!!!

WTF was I supposed to say to her??????  i just did "deer in headlights" and pretended that hadn't just happen.

  • I would just die if my mom said that to me!! thats TERRIBLE the nerve of some people

  • awwwww you're so lucky!  you have super cute little bump!  I'm only 15 weeks and i'm twice as large as you, but i'm also on the slightly chubbier side.  You look pretty willowy.  Most of my friends didn't show until the 5th or 6th month... don't worry!

  • WIth my dd I had SOOOO many comments like that! "You look so tiny- you mustint be that far along..." " Im actually 8 1/2 months" "Wow! Are you sure? You look 5 if that..."

    Yeah, they SURE are annoying.

  • I don't even really look pregnant due to a birth defect that will not allow my stomach to stretch as easily as everyone else. I even asked my Dr about it because everyone that I have seen that is at least as far as I am or  even less so, are bigger than I am.

Everyone grows/stretched differently. So long as your Dr is not worried I would not be either.

  • If this is your first then you don't need to worry about it. Feel blessed that your body has taken this long to stretch out. Besides if the doctor is not worried then you should not be either.

  • I`ve only got a small bump too.  But, I measure right on at the doctors office, so I`m not concerned.  I`m just making sure I'm getting enough to eat and a good variety of healthy fats.

  • LOL no.  You're way bigger than I was at 26 weeks.  I had a full term, normal size baby.
