3rd Trimester

When did you wash your bedding and set up the crib?

I am less than 40 days away, is it too early to wash the bedding and get it set up?

  • i washed the bedding and set up the crib at around 30 weeks.

  • I put a sheet on but haven't washed it yet.  I figure I will do that closer to when she will be here.  Haven't gotten the bumper yet.

I did, however, wash the sheet that we have for the co-sleeper.  Have to get more of those too.  I'm waiting on another shower on Oct. 2nd to see what I need to get.  It's cutting it a little close, but hopefully we will be ok (though I'm nervous the way Octo moms are dropping!!!)

  • about a week and half ago I washed all the bedding and clothes and got the nursery ready.

  • I had it all set up at 37 weeks, right after my baby shower, just incase little one showed early... but were still playing the waiting game.

  • I haven't yet- though I would like to. I need the mattress cover and pad before I make it up and DH wants to wait until after my shower. I will probably put the bedskirt on next time I am doing a bunch of ironing.
  • I just washed all clothes and blankets and bedding this weekend.  Then again DH is out of town for 3 weeks and with a toddler, I doubt I'll have much energy to do it later. :)
  • The crib was put up a couple weeks ago (around 29 weeks I think), and the bedding will be washed and put in the crib as soon as I get it... stupid company is giving me the run around on it, but that's a whole other story!
  • I have no desire to rewash so everything is washed but in the drawer/closet wating for baby's arrival.  I see no reason to make the crib up only to sit there and possibly collect dust.
  • I set the crib up the day it was delivered which was 21 or 22 weeks, that was also the day that we bought the bedding and I set it up that day as well, just to be able to see the room as it would be when LO gets here but I still haven't washed the bedding yet and I am not going to until probably while I am in labor since I will be laboring and birthing at home. They don't usually  sleep in the crib first anyways unless the crib is in your bedroom. I washed the bassinet and sheet sets last week since she will be sleeping in that right away.

  • My parents wanted to purchase the crib and it has finally come in, so my dad will be stopping by tomorrow to set it up and afterwards I will be washing the bedding.

  • I don't think it's ever too early to get the room ready! I would do it now that way if you go into labor early you have the room ready.

  • I've had the crib set up since twenty-some-odd weeks, but don't have any actual linens on the mattress yet because 1. we have a very curious cat who we had to break of a "lets get in this fun boxy thing and take a nap" habit (why put linens on there when they are just going to get cat fluff on them I'm going to have to wash them again anyway) and 2. since I'm going to be EBF we're planning on having baby Aiden sleep in our room at least until I am going back to work around the holidays (why put linens on there when they are just going to get dusty and I'm going to have to wash them again anyway).

I say set things up whenever you feel like it! If you are an obsessive laundry wierdo like me, you can just wash the sheets again when baby is ready to go to the crib.

  • After my evening of trying to wash everything and set up the mobile (which doesn't fit) I am very glad I started this little project tonight.

I can't believe how annoyed I am with the stupid mobile. It is not like I have the crib for life crib or some big fancy crib. The mobile does not fit. So at least now I have time to figure out plan "B".

I still have to get a crib protector so I will have to take it all back apart and put that on there, but now I can see how everything looks and fits.

  • Just did mine last weekend. And I'm 37 weeks.
  • I did all of that at the beginning of August, so I was about 25 weeks or so.

  • I plan to wash soon, but not put on the crib until much closer til, maybe 38 weeks.  It'll just get dusty sitting in an empty crib.

  • i washed all the sheets last week, but will wait a while to actually make up the crib. we're putting the crib together this week or next, but I think I'll wait until about 2 weeks before my EDD -- or till I go into labor-- to put the sheets etc... on. it only takes a few minutes to make the crib and i don't want the linens to get all dusty before the baby comes home.
  • I just did it last week, so I was like 36w. I probably would have done it sooner if her room would have been ready, though. I say you just do it whenever you have the time/energy!
