DD got "Fridge Phonics" as a birthday present. You stick the letter in the holder and it tells you what the letter says and what it says, and then sings a song. DD , weeks. Now, she even knows what some of her favorite letters "say". LOVE this toy!
Then today, she was holding one of her teddy bears and said, "Hi Bear!", sat quietly for a few minutes and then started making the B sound over and over again.....and then her eyes got really big and exclaimed, "Mommy, bear starts with letter B....B says 'buh'!!!!" It was a total light bulb moment for her. I was so shocked that I asked her to repeat what she said, and she said it back to me word for word. It took me quite a while to pick my jaw up off the floor, lol!
Seriously freakin' love this toy!
Re: I have to AW DD and toy rave!!
I love fridge phonics!! It's so cool, plus you end up with lots of magnets to display all your kids drawings, etc...or reminders for you. My niece and nephew have it and have outgrown it at this point. DS loves it though when visits them. I'm gonna get it for him when he's a little older.
Someone bought him a fridge farm for his birthday though which is the same concept except it's animals rather than the alphabet. You match the animal body parts and then it makes the animal sound. So far DS is hooked on saying "moooooooooooo". I really think it's a cool learning tool and it keeps him busy if I'm trying to make a quick dinner or wash dishes.
And yay for your DD!! I know it's so exciting when you can witness them learning something!
That's great!
Allie has the fridge farm and fridge dj and loves both of them. I will definitely have to look into the fridge phonics!
That is awesome! Go Caroline!
My niece had fridge phonics when she was younger. She loved that thing...so it's definitely on the to buy list when Aubs is a bit older.
