Trying to Get Pregnant

Why is a short LP bad? Or is it...

I'm not asking this for myself since this is my 1st month charting and don't know how long mine is...I just see people talking about it all the time and didn't see anything in FF about it except avg. can be from 10-16 days.

  • My understanding is that if it's less than 10 days, it can interfere with implantation, since that normally takes place between 7-10DPO.

  • Yes, it can interfere with implantation.

Some docs argue that anything shorter than 12 days can be a problem.

This.  If your LP isn't long enough, you begin to shed your uterine lining before a fertilized egg has a chance to implant.

    ETA for clarity.

  • Ok that makes sense and that's terrible since you have no control over your lp...unless they have meds for that I'm not aware of. Just one more thing your body has to deal with when ttc I guess.

  • There are meds. Either progesterone or vitamin B6 (both should be used as a prescription from your doctor) can extend the LP and make implantation more likely.
