I read about features you should look for in Baby Bargains and then googled ones I was considering and read user reviews. We ended up with the $40 foam one from Ikea.
We ended up getting the LA Soy 2 in 1 Foam Mattress from Costco.com. I read a lot of good things about it and it converts from infant to toddler which i like. It was delivered a week later and we love it. Just hope LO likes it as much as I do!
I read Baby Bargains cover to cover at least twice and referenced it constantly during my pregnancy. We got their highest rated foam mattress - Colgate Classica I and bought it from Albee Baby.
It is perfect for DD - she only naps in there so far.

When shopping for a crib mattress, consider the following:
First, does it have square corners. Your crib has square corners, your sheets are designed for square corners and so you should have a mattress with square corners. This helps it to fit snugger in the crib, no little gaps around the edges or corners. It also means your sheets will fit tight and not gather or pop off.
Second, you should look for waterproof/water resistant. Babies make messes, big ones! You dont want anything icky growing in your mattress.
Third, you might consider something two sided. Infants and toddlers have different developmental needs and so the different firmness helps with the various growth their body is going through at different stages.
Forth, you might lift a foam mattress and then compare it to a coil one. I find the foam easier to deal with when changing sheets.
I currently have Baby Bargains recommended Colgate Visco Classico III and while it is lovely it is not what I am getting for the next baby. The next mattress we get will be the Moonlight Slumber foam mattress because it is hospital grade, is waterproof and staph guarded, and hypo allergenic.
Good luck finding what fits your needs. Hope this helped.
We went with the Colgate Classica I. It was rated really highly in Baby Bargains and, according to the store we purchased from, #1 rated by consumer report. It fits our crib perfectly and feels really firm, so perfect for our future LO.
We have the seamless dual support Naturepedic organic mattress. This was a must in our household for various reasons. I recommend it's worth looking into.
