Hi ladies. I'm sorry I haven't been on in so long. After last BFN, I took full advantage of my summer, and then school started up again,.... anyway we are looking to do FET in Nov.
So here is my question. A friend of mine had IUI #1 on Tuesday. She has been seen by a RE and had all the monitoring appts. She was admitted to the hospital on Friday for a potential appendicitis. While at the hospital they did a beta and she found out she was pregnant!! Now, is it possible to get a positive beta that early from IUI? We go to the same RE and I know they tell you to "have relations" the night of trigger. But even then seems really early to get a positive beta. I'm not saying the hospital got it wrong, but I was shocked when I heard this. I haven't heard from her today, but I know she was going back to the hospital to have more bloodwork done (for her stomach) and they were going to run another beta to check to see if it doubled. Also, I didn't get a number, but they told her it was "high" which really surprised me.
ETA: I just looked at my siggy pic which goes to show how long it's been since I've posted! Oh my!! LOL!
Re: Hi ladies.. sneaking back in for a question
12/08 DX - irregular cycles - unexplained IF
2/09 - 4/09 - Clomid, TI
5/09 - 12/09 - 4 IUI
3/10 - 7/10 - 2 IVF
11/10 - Frozen Transfer
3/11 - Dx Insulin Resistant & Hypoglycemic - treating w/ Metformin & diet
My thought exactly, I don't think it is possible to get a positive at 3dpo.

DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
As far as I know, correct me if I am wrong, but the trigger is a HCG shot exactly what they are testing for when they are doing a beta I would assume it would show up as HCG in your system.
Since implantation doesn't even happen until 7-10dpo and HCG is not produced until after implantation there is no way she could get a positive beta this early. I think the hospital seriously f---ed this up. I really hope for her sake that she does end up pg or she is going to be devastated, poor thing.

How close are you guys? I think I would probably ask if she did a trigger shot and if so did the hospital say anything about the positive beta possibly being the trigger still in her system? If you put the possibility out there for her then she will probably put it together herself. Just based on how everything works it doesn't seem possible that she is pg yet, but she is probably too distracted to realize that. I would definitely say something what I would say would depend on our relationship and her personality.

We've only been close friends for about a year, but she and her husband lived with us for 6 months while their house was being built, so I'd like to say that we all grew pretty close during that time. Our husbands work together. I do know that she had a trigger shot, and agree that she is definitely distracted and in a lot of pain right now. It wasn't even her that told me about the beta. DH and I were watching their daughter while they were at the hospital and her husband told us.
Ugh, what a sh!tty situation
I'll probably stop by to see her tomorrow, so I'll see how I can bring it up then.
Thanks for your help.

Implantation takes place 7-10 days past IUI so there's no way to know if she's pregnant yet. It's the trigger.
