  I never felt any contractions with DD, just menstrual-like cramps.  However, mine were never timeable and never came and went and weren't painful.  They were just there constantly.  Now, with this pregnancy, I've been crampy the whole time and have been to L&D twice, and it's been nothing.  That's not to helpful, but since you are able to time yours and have somewhat of a pattern, I'd get checked out.  When in doubt, always get checked out.  GL!

  ETA: I said get checked out cuz my doctor doesn't have an after-hours line to call.  I just call L&D or go in.  So maybe it's worth a call to your doctor instead of automatically running to the hospital.

  Call your doc but that's how my preterm labor has started more than once.  I was told to go in so they could check me, but I think you are 36+ weeks.  Since I'm not that far they had to get them stopped.  My ute wasn't getting hard when these were happening but started to later.

  I agree with pp. I have made several visits to my dr because of serious cramping that felt like really bad menstral cramps. Again, mine didnt come in patterns they just kinda stuck around and felt like I was having a bad period. I would have it checked just in case. You cant be too careful.
