Re: what names do you dislike/hate the most?
I'm really tired of the last names being used as first names trend (i.e. Harper, Emerson, Emory, Sawyer, Harris, Harrison, Landon, Bennett, Parker, Brady etc. etc. etc.
Of course all the overplayed Aidan spinoff names (i.e. Jayden, Hayden, Brayden, and all of their yooneek spellings)
Most place names like London, Brooklyn, Berlin, Dallas, Jersey, etc.
Ella, Ellie, Valerie, Valeria, Christine, Christina, Samantha, Alexis, Connor, Cole, Colton, Bryce, Brent, Jasper, Payton (and all of it's spellings), Makenzie, Makayla, Monica, Leah, Brenda, Barbara, Emery, Eliza, Dora, Grayson (and all it's spellings), Gabriella, Isabella, Annabelle, Julianna, Jaxon, Jackson, Maddox, Nevaeh, Semaj, Tina, Yvonne, Jessica, Jesse, Bentley, Kylie, Caitlin (and all of it's spellings), Ashley, Susan, Lisa, Zander, Amber, Lynn, Avery, Francine, Michelle, Clarissa, Carissa, Brianna
That's all I can think of off the top of my head!
ETA: Hunter, Chase, Jace, Savannah, Nicole, Ginger & Cyenne!
Kelsie, Ashley, Lexi, Tyler, Abby, Kaylee, Lauren, Hailey, Samantha, Taylor, Makayla, Mckenzie, Jessica (basically all the over-used 90's names that I've grown up with).
Names I used to like until they became popular:
Jack, Ava, Avery, the nn Ellie, Sophia, Olivia, Elizabeth, Henry, Lily.
I think the names I hate are because I have bad associations with the people who share that name...if that makes any sense at all!
my list looks a lot like this but add Rachael (jerk from my past)
What she said!
My most hated names at the moment are Grayson, Gracelyn, and Hunter.

Freyja Marjorie Belle

Cole Joseph 7/05/07
Nora Anne 11/03/12
9lbs, 6oz
serioulsy. anyway, all of the -ayden names have run their course. in my area, it seems like every other baby girl is named isabella. i don't hate the name per se, it's just so overused at the moment.
I'll just say "ditto" to all of this.
My most hated names are anything rhyming with Aiden, boy names on girls, and last names as first names (especially for girls).
There are a few names that I absolutely HATE, but they are:
Kelsey
Ann
Braxton/Brekken
Mason
Kai
Aiden/Brayden/Jayden (though not Kaden...only because I have a good association because a darling little boy with that name)
McKenzie
Sarah
Kaitlin/Kaylin
Madison/Addison
Allison
Paige
Alexis
Grayson
Brycen
Stephanie
Claire
Isabel (which is, in fact, the EXACT way Jezebel is pronounced in Hebrew)
Nevaeh/Heaven (apparently that's a popular twin set)
Then there are names that I'm just tired of seeing, but was either neutral/positive on before, like:
Sophia
Avery
Annabelle
Madeline
Emily
Jacob
Andrew
Matthew
Emerson
Aubrey
(Not bad names...and names I would still suggest to someone if they were their style, I'm just over them)
thanks for hating my future sons name! means alot!
Anything that sounds hookerish to me is out. Like Pepper, Fury, Sugar, or Sprinkles.
Kai means 'King' in Japanese. I can't tell you how much it ticked me off when we were in Japan for men to name thier boys Kai. Really, that's so pompous. It's like naming your daughter Queen, Empress, or Princess. It's a surefire way for that kid to feel like he needs to be spoiled all the time and like he's entitled.
Any names traditionally spelled with a Cs that are changed to Ks. Examples: Kole, Khloe, Karli, Konner.
Certain trends, like misspelled names, -ayden names, occupation names (read: Tanner, Cooper, Thatcher etc), surnames, random smushes pr using "ly" or "lyn" to create new names, and boy names on girls.
I also hate dated names, like Jason and Jesse for boys and Miranda and Amy for girls.
Tristan - too feminine for a boy and such a wimpy namesake
Charlotte - read "Harlot"
Madison, Addison, Madelyn (Madeleine is ok)
Generally, I really dislike:
* Last names used for first names (with a very few exceptions), especially for girls. I think naming a girl anything ending in "son" is particularly ridiculous and makes it sound to me like the parents just don't think things through.
* Boy names used for girls.
* Made-up names.
* Cadence.
* Cre8ive spellings, random K's and y's like a lot of you mentioned, etc. They make me cringe.
* Place names used as people names (unless, of course, it's also traditionally a name in its own right, since some places were named after people
).
* In some cases, using a distinctively ethnic name, the name of a tribe, etc., when you have no ties to that people group.
There are some individual names as well that I dislike, but my biggest name pet peeves fall into those categories.
I'm a teacher, so I have a long list...
Hayden, Caiden, Vaiden (etc.)
Madelyn, Maddie, Madee (any spelling of that name)
Sam
Lexi, Alexis
Fiona
Riley
Kailey, Kaylee, Kaylynn
Ethan
Destiny, Heaven, Nevaeh (anything along those lines)
Landon
Neaveh
That is about the only name that I absolutely cannot stand... and can find nothing "pretty" or "special" about it.
