Babies: 0 - 3 Months

do you think DD is contagious?

So my daughter (who happens to turn 3 months today!) came home from daycare yesterday congested. She had some green mucus in her spit up (she's a big time spitter as it is) and some green boogies. We talked to the nurse at our doctors office since it was after hours and they have us using a humidifier, crib elevated at one end and some saline drops - she is still congested this morning, but doesnt seem to be as green, more of a clear mucus - has had no fever. my question, which DH forgot to ask nurse, is if she is contagious - anyone have any idea? i'm wondering because i'm throwing my sister a babyshower/meet the baby today and i wanted to bring DD with me. her baby is 2 months old. any help would be great - thanks!

  • I would definitely err on the side of caution and leave your LO at home.  You'd feel terrible if her baby got sick because you brought your daughter.

  • Sounds like she has a cold. It could be contagious, but most of us adults walk around with colds on a daily basis (ie. The reason the rest of us catch a cold). You can take your LO, but insist that everyone washes their hands before and after holding your LO. My only concern would be bring your LO around your sisters LO since getting sick affects babies so much worse.

Is she sneezing at all? If not, then she wouldnt accidently spread her germs if everyone washes hands good.

Sorry this advice is so wishy washy! Hope it helps!

This - I wouldn't risk it, especially with another small baby around.
