Q for those with Corrective Lenses

Have you noticed a change/decline in your vision?  When I was on my business trip earlier this week, I noticed that I was learning forward to read signs, but I chalked it up to being someplace I've never been before.  However, I just went around the corner (literally) from my house.....a drive I've made a million times, and had trouble seeing.

I know that some change/decline is normal, but is change in depth perception normal?  I will probably call my MW tomorrow and see if I need to go to an eye Dr.

Re: Q for those with Corrective Lenses

  • Yes, but I think it is more related to how exhausted I am feeling.  It seems if I am more tired the worse it gets. But there is a dif.

  • I noticed my contact isn't fitting as well, not sure if that is because of being KU or just tired.

Dry eyes is a common thing during PG so that may be affecting your vision. Also, your cornea may change by thickness and curvature because of water retention which would affect your correction whether it is glasses of contact lenses.

Definitely having a comprehensive eye exam would be a good idea to help you throughout your PG as things change.

  • A friend of mine told me her vision declined while she was PG. She called her eye doctor who said this is common, and as long as she doesnt feel unsafe, to just ride it out till after birth and he would re-examine.  i didn't ask if it went back or not.

  • I've read a few places that the fluid levels in your eyes will change during pregnancy. This will cause vision changes and may make it so you can't even wear contacts anymore. When I was in high school my biology teacher became pregnant and had to wear glasses the whole 9 months because her eyes changed shape and she couldn't wear her contacts without scratching her cornea.

I know it sounds weird but look it up, I am pretty sure it's true. It's just one of those weird changes our bodies will go through.
