I'm planning to ask the doctor about this, but LO has made a weird, loud croaking noise several times a day since he was born. He doesn't seem to be in any distress and continues breathing fine, but I've just never heard other babies do this (although I have very little experience with babies prior to LO). It seems to happen on the inhale, though I'm not certain. Any ideas?
Also, LO seems to get congested a lot, like he needs a full saline + suction every 2-3 days and I pull out LOTS of material. My mom thinks maybe he has an allergy or something... this has been going on pretty much since birth too.
Re: Croaking noise, congestion?
I bought a saline aerosol spray (you can also use drops) called "Baby Simply Saline" from the baby section of Target. I spray a little bit in each nostril and lay him back for 20-30 seconds. Then I use the suction bulb from the hospital to suction each nostril. I usually pull out a three-inch-long booger from each side (BARF). He sounds like he's drowning and struggling before I do it, but afterwards is all clear. My main concern is you're not supposed to use the saline too much, but if I don't I can't get anything out...
