Postpartum Depression

Anybody with horrible anxiety

I have been fighting PPD for 7 weeks now with meds and therapy. I know I am only a week into it but they put me on Celexa. I take 10 mg at dinner and 10mg at breakfast that way  I wont develop insomnia or drowsiness (the 2 biggest side effects). I can honestly say that since Monday my anxiety gets better and better EVERYDAY. I can lay comfy in bed in the am and rest nicely. Im still waiting on it to fully kick in for my depression but I have high hopes. Either way I have experienced NO side effects and have an appetite again. Just wanted to share it for some of you that are going thru a hard time with anxiety.(this was the 3rd drug I tried). Let me know if anyone else has had any success. Hope you all feeling better!!

Re: Anybody with horrible anxiety

  • That's me in a nutshell. I am meeting with my OB Monday to discuss options. I can't sleep, feel sick, and have been an upset mess. I think my husband is about sick of me.

  • Zoloft worked for me years ago (not PPD related) but this time we tried zoloft and after a week the intrusive throughts started so we switched to prozac and it just over stimulated my body(was on for 5 weeks). I couldnt eat, sleep, even watch tv and I was scared to death!! So my doc upped my dose and It made me start throwing up. Ya not for me though its great for depression but it made my anxiety worse. The Celexa has def calmed me down!! I still feel depressed and detached at times but I find myself starting to enjoy life a little more (and get sleep). I know it takes weeks to get to the full effect but I feel like half my problem is solved in a away and that I can deal with depression better on my own thru exercise, eating well and just time. Research your options and make sure your doc knows that ANXIETY is a HUGE problem for you because some anti depressants can worsen it (prozac being one). If you have any question or need to talk private message me anytime. I know Im not better yet but remember we all will get there!! HUGS
  • I am happy to hear that you are starting to feel better! Best of luck to this being the beginning of good things to continue!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks... hope so. And I mean the second I got diagnosed (or realized) I switched everything- alcohol use (even as little), my diet to only healthy, extra vitamins and working out everyday....oh and weekly therapy. Plus the meds. Im just saying I have tired so hard that I hope the end is near. I mean nobody has ever had PPD forever right?
  • I am so happy to hear you are doing better, glad they found a good med!
  • I am glad that you got a good treatment plan so far!
