Pedialyte Freezer Pops for those who can't keep down water

I'm possibly Tardy to the Party on this one, but I went in for a scan yesterday (baby looked amazing, measuring ahead with a great heartbeat. S/he moved for daddy, he was so happy).

But the nurse could tell I was dehydrated from my urine sample. I told her I can't seem to keep down liquids - water, Gaterade, you name it. So I had just sort of stopped drinking.

She suggested Pedialyte pops, at least three a day, and then to sip on a glass of ice cold ginger ale for the times in between.

The pops are great - I don't have that horrible, no saliva dry mouth feeling anymore. And they are staying down with no problem.

The ginger ale is more of a fight, but I'm trying.

Just wanted to pass that along. I had to get IV fluids in the ER with my first pregancy, so I am really paranoid about my hydration this time around. I know how miserable it is.

  • Where did you find them?  I had someone suggest these to me due to my hyperemesis, but I thought they were a homemade thing and haven't gotten around to trying them.  Glad they're helping you and congrats on the great scan!!!

  • Congrats on the ultrasound!

Thanks for sharing this! I didn't know about these. I've also been worried about being dehydrated.

     Thanks!

I found them unfrozen in the baby section of my supermarket.

They come in boxes, like this:

They did not have them already frozen.

  • By the way, if jello goes/stays down easier for any of you, I have tried making it with Pedialyte or Gatorade instead of water.  It counts towards your liquids and helps you get back some extra electrolytes!
