Jay and I are going to a thing tonight after the boys are asleep. We've got my 16-year-old niece coming over to sit in our house and basically make sure no one kidnaps the boys.

How much would you pay? She's getting here at 8:30p and since her curfew is midnight, I'm going to come home around 11:45p. Would $50 be too much or too little? I told her she could bring a girlfriend over (we know her BFF), read, watch tv, whatever. She's watched the boys before while they're awake and I (over) paid her $10/hr per kid. Yeah, that's $20/hour. My (dumb) idea. Since she really won't be doing anything with the boys, I can totally pay less, right?
Re: how much would you pay a sitter who is here after kids are asleep?
Wow. Let me know the next time you want to go out after the boys are asleep and I'm there.
I think $30 or $35 would be fine. That's $10 an hour.
Generally speaking, I would pay the same amount whether they are awake or asleep. BUT...you overpaid last time, so I wouldn't hesitate to pay less this time.
Have fun at your thing tonight!
Wow. I'm paying our sitter $50 tonight. She'll have my kids from 5pm to about 1am. She's a grown woman (my friend's mom) and she thought we'd be giving her too much.
Generally, we pay about $7 an hour regardless of how long the kids will be in bed.
