Sick (and nursing) what can I take?

I have a raging sinus infection and my throat is killing me.

What can I take while nursing?  Sloane is also sick but seems to be handling it better.

  • I had that a few weeks ago and I was miserable.  I am sorry you feel so bad.  I ended up going on an antibiotic and felt much better in a few days.  You can take tylenol cold and such, but the decongestent in the meds can dry your milk up a little while you are taking it.  My friend called the LeLeche league about this when she was nursing and they said to drink alot and take they tylenol cold.  Oh yeah I also went on a nasal spray for allergies with the antibiotic and my milk was fine.  Sorry this got so long, but I would call your dr and see what they say.  Rachel

However, like pp said, the decongestant can adversely affect your milk supply.

  • right there with you girl. my nose is a faucet :(  and i have a nasty headache. Colton seems to be suffering also but also seems to be doing much better than me.....may have something to do with the fact that he gets more rest LOL
  • Ugh, I am sorry.   I had a terrible cold last week.  I actually didn't take anything to "dry me up" because as goldenmama pointed out when I posted about this last week, it will dry your milk up too.  I just suffered through until I came down with a fever, then I went to urgent care and ended up on an antibiotic, but never took anything for the intial symptoms of sore throat, and nasal and chest congestion--it was awful.  Sorry to hear you are going through it too.
