I think that a lot of us (especially the first timers) have had some eye-opening realizations since our BFP. I consider myself a pretty intelligent, well-read and practical woman, but I really have surprised myself with a few things about pregnancy that I have been way off the mark with - starting with the "Wait, I am FOUR weeks pregnant even though I conceived two weeks ago? WTF?"
here's my most recent moment of genius: My original due date was March 27th. but when we found out that we're having twins, the OB told me that they usually come by 37 weeks instead of 40 (sometimes sooner). When I saw him again last week, he asked me again what my due date was, and I said "I don't know now, because you said it was earlier." He looked at me like I had three heads (actually I suppose I do now - only two aren't visible externally yet) and then he realized what I was saying. He chuckled and said in that way that is like a verbal pat on the head "Your due date is the same, no matter what." OK - I felt like a total dumba$$.
What have you been mistaken about so far?
Re: What have you completely gotten wrong so far?
Exactly! lol The nurse had me go empty my bladder and give a 'sample,' and while I was away, DH told me she started prepping the tool with him in the room. He was like, "oh crap, I hope they told her it was going to be internal!" Uh... Nope. Haha, oh well. I just hope I don't have another one anytime soon.
Not so much "wrong"... but... I thought that I had gas before... woah... nothing is like being pregnant!
My MARRIED Bio
Before getting pregnant, I just assumed that I would be able to continue my good eating habits with lots of fruits and veggies as well as my regular exercise routine.
Yeah, not so much. I am lucky to get in 1-2 servings of fruits & veggies/day and I am craving salty carbs like no one's business. I also have no energy or desire to exercise. Le sigh.
I could have written this. Exactly.
