I feel like the last 2 weeks or so, all the nerves and anxiety and questions are pretty much over. I feel like I know Levi's cry/sleep/feeding schedule, and DH have a great system going that really works. I just wanted to see where everyone else is during the early stages with your LO ![]()
Any comments?
Re: Are you in the "Mommy-swing-of-things?" Non-clicky
I am in the same boat. I don't feel like I am drowning or anything and I am thoroughly enjoying her.
A month ago, DH told me that he was going to a conference in November and he would be away for a week. I told him NO WAY because I could not handle DD alone for a week. Last week I said, hey, go schedule your stuff for the conference! I am confident that I can handle her all by myself!
First off, I LOVE your LO's name! Second, I'm sorry you've struggled with PPD--I can't imagine how hard that is! But I'm so glad you're feeling better. I think I didn't feel 100% confident until LO was at least 2 months old, and it just keeps getting better. I used to feel like maybe everyone else knew better than me about parenting, but it was like one day I said, "Hey, wait a minute, I know my baby WAY better than you!" And I don't have to answer to anyone for my parenting methods...its nice!!
For somone that never went near a newborn, I got the hang of things quick.
It helps LO is very easy as crys maybe about 20 minutes a day. DH and I have gotten her established in a good routine and just enjoy her now.
Thanks, and kudos to us. We're kick-ass moms. Lol
YAY! I love the confidence that comes from experience--its cool that no one knows our babies like us, so that adds some confidence too
A week with no DH IS a big feat--I applaud you!
I am. It took 7-8 weeks to feel like I knew what I was doing. DD is an easy happy baby, but it wasn't until about 8 weeks that I felt confident in my ability to be her mother. Once I got to that point, I remembered reading something saying that the first 8 weeks are the normalization period for a baby.
Now when any newer than me parent asks, I tell them they will hit their groove around 8 weeks and it is a wonderful feeling.
