How much would/did you spend????????

I was just curious on how much you would/did spend on your baby bedding??

I've seen the cutest pre made bedding sets online but most sites only post to USA and I haven't seen any I'm absolutely in love with over here so I went on the hunt on etsy.com and found a lady who does custom bedding and will ship to AUS but by the time I pay for shipping and convert the currency it will be nearly $350 AUD is this a little excessive???

We will be renting for the first year or so as we are selling our house now and moving 8 hours away closer to family so before we settle and buy a house we want to rent and make sure that's the area we want to live. In saying that I'm guessing the place we find at the time will most likely have white walls and we won't be aloud to paint so maybe it doesn't seem so stupid to have the bedding as my main feature.

wow now I'm rambling, anyways

how much would/did you spend??

Re: How much would/did you spend????????

  • I got a $70 4-piece set on clearance for $20, $60 worth of valances on clearance for $12, and made the rest. So not much at all!

  • Ours will be about $180 and honestly, I think its too much but it's really the only one that I've seen that I liked so it was going to be my splurge.  Now my mom has offered to buy it for me so that's even better :-)

  • We found a set for $350 that we loved, but decided to just buy the sheet to save money, and b/c we weren't planning to use the bumper or comforter anyway.

You should spend however much you want and can afford! We just chose to splurge on other things instead.

  • Ours is $175.  I wish it was cheaper, but that was the best price of the ones I liked.

At first I was planning to just get sheets and make a crib skirt myself with fabric, but I didn't find any options that I liked for that either so just went witht the set.

  • I couldn't find a set that I liked and refuse to use a bumper so I bought "a la carte" from Restoration Hardware - all in all with a few accessories it was probably around $300 for sheets, bedskirt, accessory pillow(for chair), and velour blanket(for chair).  RH is a little pricey, but the quality is the best I've found for baby items, so the extra money was well worth it.

  • We'll just be buying sheets but I will be making the crib skirt, quilt, curtains, etc.

  • I spent way too much on bedding, but I love it.  It was my splurge.  Everything else in the nursery has been much more reasonable...ikea dresser, repainted used night stand, etc.

  • I am happy to say we found a great set at a consignment sale that included skirt, 2 valances, bumper, a duvet and cover, a chenille blanket, decorative pillow for $50. My mom had already offered to pay us back if we found a set while in ATL even around the 180 price point, but I don't see any need in it.
  • I paid $250 for the bedskirt, sheet, bumpers, 2 matching blankets and a lamp shade.  I love it all, totally worth it.

  • For bedding, we are only doing crib sheets, a crib skirt, and breathable bumper, so we are not getting a bedding set.  Although they are cute, I don't want a comforter due to SIDS risk and traditional bumper because of suffocation risk.  I plan to be able to buy the above (including a few sets of sheets) for under $100.

I also spent $50 on cute blackout curtains for the nursery.  Oh, and some affordable cute kids rugs from Ikea (one for the nursery and one for the pack n play area of our living room)...

  • We spent $40 on the 3 piece set, another $18 on the matching bed skirt, and we'll probably spend another $20 on two matching sheets and maybe another $20 on two more plain sheets.  So around $100.  I find some of the expensive sets ridiculous and even if I could buy anything I wanted and had no budget I probably wouldn't spend over $200 for everything.
  • We also did just sheets, so like $20 total.
  • I did custom bedding from Etsy because we have a mini-crib and I couldn't find what I was looking for in that size.  We spent right around $200 for 2 sheets, a crib skirt, bumpers, and a quilt.  It was pretty comprable in cost to what a full set would cost at BRU or similar so I was ok with it but of course I would have preferred to spend less!

  • What is with all of the question marks in your subject? Annoying.

I got my bedding set from PBK but on sale. I spent less than $100 for the 4 piece set plus an extra sheet. There is no way I'd spend $350. I wanted to do the Sock Monkey bedding originally but could not justify that expense.

  • We got a 4 piece set from Walmart (2 piece bumper, comforter, sheet) the end was a cute bumper with stuffed animals sticking out of it. I took the regular bumper that was three sided and turned it into matching curtains and a dust ruffle for about $10 extra dollars in fabric. I also found the main print as a separate thing on ebay for and put it around a wood frame DH made canvas style for about $15 (with the wood and the yard of fabric). The comforter was good for tummy time and looked nice draped over the rocker. Of course when he really started rolling the stuffed animal bumper came out of the crib, but everything else is still there.

  • I thought the amount you wanted to spend seemed high until I did the math on ours...$289.  So I guess I'm not way off!  Spend whatever you want and get what you like, as long as you can afford it.

We bought some fitted sheets, a breathable bumper and a crib skirt. That's it. Everything else, to me, is completely unnecessary.

Ditto.. we didn't want the comforter, bumpers, etc because of fear of SIDS so we just purchased some sheets and bedskirts and called it a day.

  • I spent a lot - $360 for the 4pc set.  It's what I wanted and I couldn't buy all of the pieces separately.
