diaper bag for dad's?

Are you getting a more masculine diaper bag for your DH? The bag I got is a plain black nylon tote. Not floral or anything, but I guess I can see why DH thinks it is purse-like.

Will there be that many times he has the baby out somewhere without me? I just don't see the need to buy another one that won't get used very often. I told him he can use an old backpack if he needs to.

What are your plans for DH and the diaper bag?

I got a very small one from PBK when we had DD for DH in case he ever had her out or if we ever just needed a little diaper bag. However, I can't think of one instance when DH had her out without me before she was 1. I think you'll be fine with the one you have. Also, your DH shouldn't worry about it being purse-like. If he's out alone with the baby it will be obvious that it's a diaper bag.

DH has a Diaper Dude (orange and brown, messenger bag style) but he very, very rarely used it. It was just easier to grab mine, knowing it was already prepacked with all the most essential things. But mine is also a simple black nylon... not sure if he would have been as willing if it were hot pink or floral-printed.

We carried the same bag. It was pink and brown, but he did not mind. He picked her up from the sitter's everyday, so he carried it quite often.

whichever one we get, we'll share it. I'm sure DH will have the baby fairly often, since he'll be SAH with him, but tough cookies. Seems silly to me to have separate ones.

I did buy DH a seperate diaper bag because the diaper bag I bought for myself is a Vera Bradley and pretty much looks like an oversized purse (below)

So I searched to find something for him and found him a Redskins diaper bag (below).

He is in love with his diaper bag. I highly suggest something similar for the crazy sports-fan dad.

EDIT: I also forgot to add that I don't plan on carrying a purse & a diaper bag. My diaper bag will also act as my purse when I take out LO and I'm a firm believer that I don't have to give up my style just because I'm a mom, which is why I refused to buy a gender neutral bag...NMS. I've already also purchases a zebra print wipe case (to match the zebra interior of my bag) and a Vera Bradley black ad white make-up case for me to use in the bag.

I hadn't really thought of this but I imagine we'll just use one bag since it'll already be packed. I think we'd keep it in the stroller anyway so it wouldn't be like DH was walking around with it.

Before my 1st nephew was born, my sis got her H a diaper dude and told him it was just a new messenger bag. We saw them one day and he was showing us his cool new bag that he could use for all sorts of things and then wondered why there was an extra pocket or something (I can't remember exactly what it was) and my sis admitted it was a diaper bag. It was hilarious. (That said, I'm quite sure he's never used it for diapers and I'm not even so sure he's ever changed a diaper and his 3rd child will be born any minute now.)

The one I have my eye on is red, and kind of looks more like a camping cooler with outer compartments. I figure if DH ever has to go out with our son, he doesn't have to feel immasculated by it (like floral or zebra stripes)- plus, I told him that we WILL be carrying it equally in public- not just me since I'm the mom.

I'm using a gray messenger bag I had already as a diaper bag. If H thinks it's not manly enough, frankly, he can suck it.

We've registered for several different ones in different sizes. If we get all of them, the one that we'll use most often is just a red messenger bag. DH probably won't have the baby out without me very often, but my dad will (he'll be our day care provider for a few months) and red is dad's favorite color, LOL.

We also registered for a more purse-like bag (that I'm thinking of removing from the registry b/c I don't think I'd actually use it much) and a big, backpack-type one that we'll use for all-day outings and vacations. Both are also in neutral colors so DH shouldn't have any issues with using them.

I registered for one at BRU that's Columbia brand. It's a backpack and is black and orange. Looks like something he would use anyway.

I didn't register for a girly one for me because I have a friend who makes the CUTEST diaper bags and that's what I'll use.

I plan on getting him a Nicenew backpack and setting it up for a diaper bag especially for use when were out together so I don't have to carry one but also for him to use when I'm not around. At this time I'm assuming he will not just be sitting at hone when I'm not there it just wouldn't be normal I know he's already planning on going to balboa park for walks and jogs with her so he'll need something

We are not getting a diaper bag for DH. He works much longer hours than I do, so I will be with the baby MUCH more than he will. So he can suck it if he doesn't like my bag

Dh just always used my diaper bag. Its a bit girly being Tiffany Blue but he is man enough ; ) Plus its a huge pain to move stuff from one to the other or make sure that there is two bags loaded with everything needed. At least for awhile the baby doesn't really go far without mama anyway.

We're only getting one. I think if we had one for each of us, I'd be the one packing them both anyway, so it's easier for us to just pay for one that's neutral enough to share. We're getting this one, my husband just has to pick which of the 2 patterned colors he prefers.

We bought two bags-one on clearance at Target for shorter trips, and a sling style backpack at BRU. Both of us could carry them. That just makes the most sense to me. DH did like the style of some of the 'diaper dude' bags, but I felt like they were huge and not really necessary. I personally didn't want a purse like bag, and when we are out together, we can switch off on who carries the bag versus pushing the stroller or wearing a sling/carrier.

We're only planning on sharing diaper bag so we're opting for the Ju Ju Be BFF bag in brown. It can be worn as a backpack or messenger bag and also has a top handle so its versatile enough for both of us.

We actually have 3:

One gerber one that was cheap but durable and is totally gender neutral for baby and parents to go back and forth to daycare. Just big enough to hold enough for the day.

One for quick errands, its little and I got it at target on clearance (Eddie Bauer) and is completely masculine. I didn't figure DH would be going anywhere that would require anything more without me.

One that is totally not masculine, but doesn't look like a diaper bag, for me and is big enough to hold everything we need when we travel. Especially for when I fly to IN to see my parents in March, we go to MD to see his family in June, and to see my family again and have Marley baptized in July/August.

We have a couple traditional diaper bags and a backpack that we use, but I never bought anything "manly" for DH. Though the freebie bags we got from the hospital are just plain and black so I guess if he really wanted a bag he could use one of those.
